The no-trade clause in Bradley Beal’s contract ultimately allowed him to choose his next destination. Beal picked the Suns over multiple other trade options, including Miami, Milwaukee and Sacramento, sources tell @ShamsCharania.

Well, way to shoot us in the dick on the way out, I guess.

  2. Solid-Confidence-966

I mean what exactly were those teams going to offers us?

  3. round_mound_rebound

People mad about what we got in the trade need to realize that Beal had all of the leverage here due to the NTC. Sheppard really screwed is over with the contract. Sure we def should have traded Beal 3 years ago but at this point, I’m just glad to get off the contract and move on. It was either this or stay in mediocrity forever

  4. TopOfTheKey

Meanwhile everything points to the Wizards wanting to get the trade done early while other teams were incentivized to wait.

  5. The_prawn_king

This probably cements beals standing with the fans pretty damn low. Could’ve at least worked with the team to get a good deal for us. Still can’t believe they gave him a no trade clause, wild.

  6. berniebunfeld

People got to realise, Bradley Beal controlled the pieces we got back. The worst contract the wizards have ever gifted a player.

  7. InGenNateKenny

The Heat fans who annoyed this sub to no end over the years with “Beal wants to play in Miami” are in shambles lol.

One silver lining of this trade.

The only notable things the wiz ever do are come up ways to get out of untraceable contracts.

    Thanks, Ted! Thanks, Tommy!

Your terrible decision to keep this guy and not trade him when we could’ve gotten a haul is why we’re here. I don’t blame the new FO at all. They’re cleaning up Ted and Tommy’s mess.

  10. German_Irish_chicken

I hope the suns never win a championship.

  11. Fitzy725

So it boils down to Tommy put the new front office in an impossible situation and Beal used that Tommy blunder to see the Wizards with a weak return and go where he wanted.

Can’t be mad at anyone but Tommy and Ted for their full on ineptitude. Great “point of partnership” indeed guys.

  12. Am I missing something shouldn’t y’all have wanted the MIA deal over the scraps PHX bout to send y’all???

  13. Ravens181818184

Just saw someone say the opposite

  14. Joshottas

The unnecessary NTC royally f’d this team for any sort of reasonable return. Trust me, I’m glad that Beal’s contract is off the books, but Tommy needs jail.

  15. kroutdogg

Honestly, fuck Sheppard and fuck Beal. Now let’s move on and start this rebuild with a capable(hopefully) front office finally.

  16. COACHREEVES

I think it amounts to we lost out on a Miami no.1 pick, probably in the high 20s maybe even at the very end of the 1st. Dang.

But we are out of that contract.

We will be the Kings of the 2nd round for the next 5 years. Jokic, Draymon, Middleton are all 2nd rounders. The picks aren’t nothing/trash. Tommy won’t be making them. I wish we had Miami’s no.1 but meh, I will reserve judgement on this FO

  17. blkandoutside

I, for one, am shocked that the person who refused to get vaccinated and then married someone who tried to peddle a conspiracy theory that the jab killed Hank Aaron, would act in such a self-serving way!

  18. Redskins4evaB

Beals washed anyway. On to the draft

  19. dekaite99

I’m just glad we’re done with Bradley, even if it ended badly. There’s no way we can get something good with how his contract has NTC added to it.

  20. AdSuitable8102

Did he ever want to win here or was he just saying that? If he’s serious about winning, Miami makes the most sense. Phx is a horrible fit

  21. TheDeHymenizer

Beal’s a fool then. FL has no income tax on his $50M+ and he’d likely of pushed Miami to be a contender as opposed to the Suns who will have a hellva offense but no defense once they finally get rid of Ayton.

  22. hunkefunk

    “Hard to blame Beal.”

Yes, Beal was only in the position to fuck us this hard because of how historically awful our FO has been. But the man FUCKED us. If this franchise were an Applebees and Beal were a line cook, no one would be defending his right to leave us all in shambles so he can leave to cook at The French Laundry. There is a decency in the workplace that we are allowed to expect from professional athletes.

  23. ihatethesidebar

This really is the worst contract in the league

  24. Why didn’t we just call Brad’s bluff and be like “Fine, shit return means no trade and you’re going to rot for the rest of your career while we wait you out because we’re not getting anything back anyway”? Oh, because we’re the Wizards. Carry on
