[Jackson] ESPN’s Windy noted the philosophical difference in Suns opting for Beal trade and Miami passing. 2nd apron -with big tax and very restrictive rules- “concerned” Heat. Suns new owner thought if “they were going to pierce the second apron, it was better to explode right through it”

Ishbia’s gonna be that YOLO diamond hands meme owner that the NBA needs, isn’t he?

  2. Dischucker

Well he is right. If you’re gonna be above that second apron anyways, might as well get your money’s worth

  3. AleroRatking

They better get a title because the late 2020s and early 2030s will be brutal with all the limitations.

  4. NoiceForNoReason

Bull in a china shop that Ishbia

Suns ownership is also quite literally “betting” on the new media rights deal negotiated by 2025.

sports gambling could push the cap up to its max 10% yearly, which would actually give the Suns a chance at dropping below the 2nd apron (2-3 years from now) if the deal is big enough

  6. Extremeaty

Man the Heat are working the media like crazy to try and spin losing out on Beal lol

Matt ishbia reminds me of mikhail prokorohov. New owners seem to always come in and flex their chest.

  8. iabeytorm

Money bags Matt is a breath of fresh air even if this ends up exploding in our face

  9. DjLionOrder

I love the idea. But did it have to be with Bradley Beal?

  10. Oh my God, I would love to see Suns fail just for memes or win all also for memes

People seem to not understand what this is saying. This trade was for the most part a salary dump. Meaning the suns already had the contracts on the books to put them at the 2nd apron, they were already limited in what they could do. Ishbia is saying if we’re already limited by hitting that 2nd apron what does it matter if they’re $5mil or $20mil past the 2nd apron.

Don’t see what the problem is.

KD has 1 or 2 more years of All NBA level performance left most likely, and Booker is in his peak form.

Why not go big right now? The Sun’s will most likely be irrelevant again after Booker retires

As a suns fan, this is mana from heaven. Who wouldn’t want an owner to say this? Who would want an owner who wants to broadcast your games for free?

His strategy is to make the suns a massive global brand. Wow.

Everybody is saying words like “depth” and “top heavy” and “over paid”. But I’d just like to say I’m pretty freaking happy to have an owner who’s spending absurdly after being frustrated with Robert Sarver’s cheap ass over the past decade plus. I’m just hear to watch a fun team and hope they can compete.

Let’s get some defensive players, these 3 guys should be able to carry an offense by themselves.

If youre gonna make a mess, might as well make a big mess

I still think it’s kinda funny we are doing the “Build big 3’s out highly paid players” thing when all the evidence points to that *not* working.

    Spurs run: Homegrown

    Bucks: Homegrown

    Nuggets: Homegrown

Warriors: Homegrown, did add KD but that roster was good before and after KD

Raptors: Homegrown, did ONE big trade.

Cavs: Hybrid (LeBron and Kyrie did get drafted by the Cavs tbh)

You look at the teams that have taken the build artificial “Big 3’s” and it doesn’t work tbh, unless you have LeBron James the best route to build a winner is the draft, role players and maybe go out and get 1 star if you don’t end up making the star via the drafting process.

Phoenix is gonna be in tax hell and crying when the Nuggets beat them next year in 5 games in the WCF or even before.

CJ McCollum silly ass is in shambles. What a terrible NBAPA representative, man. The owners/governors cooked his ass.

If youre going to miss heaven, why do it by 2 inches?

I always explode right through her

The next decade is a gonna be rough on suns fans. Hopefully this new owner learns to let true basketball people make personnel decisions

If they don’t make the Finals, let alone Conference Finals next season, the clowning will be biblical. It will make that game 7 against Mavs seem like a nice day in the park.
