I’d hate to move on from Dejounte but wouldn’t necessarily hate this move. Obviously John would also be gone in this situation.
I think if you could run a simulation and pair Trae with a million different teammates and see which ones could actually win championships – most of the potential championship teams would have a guard next to Trae that excels at point of attack defense. That is not Dejounte.
It’s interesting, but only makes sense if we replace him with an excellent defensive guard. I think that + Siakam and + a defensive guard completely changes the complexion of this team.

Nah, DJM provides more value to the team than Siakam would. Realistically, the only players that should stay on the team are Trae DJM OO JJ AJ Bogi and Hunter (yes, Hunter should stay because his skill set is difficult to replace, and he’s a player you need on a championship team). The rest should be shopped for improvements and/or draft capital.

This is exactly the kind of move we should pursue. I can’t max out DJ with Trae on big money and AJ coming. Flip DJ for a real wing since ours have plateaued.

I like DJM but are y’all crazy? Siakam is one of the most underrated players in the NBA and would immediately give the Hawks a defensive identity and playmaking from the 4 position. Those are probably the two biggest deficiencies of the Hawks that people here talk about.
