– This marked the start of a very solid core with longevity (Reggie Miller + Mark Jackson + Rik Smits + Dale Davis + Antonio Davis + Derrick McKey) which subsequently reached the Finals in 2000. I always have this team in mind when someone advocates to dismantle a team because “they just couldn’t get past conference finals” – longevity and good coaching (Larry Bird in 98-00) are important factors to success.
– This is the season in which Reggie Miller had his famous “8 points in 9 seconds” during the playoff vs Knicks.
