I’m all for upgrading Hunter, or trading him for a chance to draft someone with more upside, but let’s not act like he’s a trash defender because he has harder defensive assignments than everyone on the team.

Deandre Hunter is not as good as we need him to be defensively considering the rest of the roster and i would like to see an upgrade if possible….but don’t use RAPTOR to try to make a point, its super flawed. No one with eyes believes that Bogi or Trae is a better defender than Hunter.

I keep telling y’all the frontcourt is not those guys. We built horribly around Trae yet everybody was trying to blame him for the season

Trae has improved on D over the last 3 years (especially towards the end of this season), but he is always going to be our worse defender. If you watch any Hawks games, opposing offenses consistently schemes to get Trae guarding a mismatch (through picks, etc.). To counter that, we have DJ and Hunter perpetually switching back to guard the better player. This puts them at a real disadvantage, as they are usually out of position. To me, this is why “statistically” you are seeing a decline in both DJ & Hunters Raptor, while Trae’s has gone up (because he is always switching off of their top scorer).
