Atlanta Hawks don’t need another young guy in NBA draft |Hittin Hard With Jon Chuckery|6/22/23 FULL

The Atlanta Hawks will make a selection in tonight’s 2023 NBA Draft, but they aren’t really in a position to add another young player to their roster. Host Jon Chuckery explains why the Hawks’ future is dependent on the current young players on the roster stepping up. He discusses Kentucky guard Cason Wallace as a popular mock draft selection, but whomever Atlanta takes is likely to spend all his time in the G League with the College Park Skyhawks rather than the Hawks during the season.

The Hawks have to make a choice about whether or not they’re gonna be stagnant with their roster and run it back under new head coach Quin Snyder. Jon Chuckery breaks down why owner Tony Ressler needs to be out in front to make sure that the Hawks offseason plans have more “bite” than “bark.” They can talk a big game about making roster changes, but will they actually do it. Last year, the rumor said John Collins would be a draft-night trade, which never came to fruition. Patience is not a virtue for this Hawks team that needs more than just a coaching change to get things back on track.

Field Yates of ESPN is the latest to suggest the Atlanta Falcons need to be shopping for more help at the wide receive rposition. But Jon Chuckery explains why the team already has plenty of pass-catchers in Drake London, Kyle Pitts, Mack Hollins, Cordarelle Patterson, Bijan Robinson, and Jonnu Smith given their desire to run the ball. What the Falcons truly need is a difference-maker in terms of their pass rush.
