seems like a bigger version of DLo with not as good a 3pt shot yet…apparently DLo shot a lifetime best when he worked out pre-draft for the Lakers because he didn't shoot that great his rookie year.
Russ did good at running a half court offense, and has done it his whole career. The problem with the Lakers was that both LBJ and Russ were not shooting well from 3 this year, so the spacing was not good. You look at Russ's half court work on the Clippers vs the his half court work on the Lakers, and you'll see it was a personnel issue, not a skill issue. At least Russ wasn't doing what LBJ was, dribbling for 10 seconds to just chuck up 3s at the end of the possession, and shooting 7 3s a game, despite only hitting 17% from 3 in the playoffs lol. Lebron being a chucker really hurt the Lakers half court game. Lakers couldn't be stopped when LBJ was constantly driving, but he couldn't sustain it without running out of breath. Father time definitely caught him this year.
Regardless of how I dislike people taking jabs at Russ for no reason, I do like this Fino pick. He's exactly what we needed. He's not Chris Paul, but he has a lot of Chris Paul in him. That mid range pull up is very CP3 along with his passing and on ball defense. A+ pick for me.
