Westbrook has felt the messages about Frank’s vision of the position, both before and after the former MVP’s arrival. If it seems like Frank does not totally prefer a player like Westbrook,

>Frank acknowledges Westbrook succeeded with the Clippers last season. But Westbrook has felt the messages about Frank’s vision of the position, both before and after the former MVP’s arrival. If it seems like Frank does not totally prefer a player like Westbrook, even despite Westbrook’s production from last season, then Westbrook has also felt that way. He appreciates knowing he exceeded Frank’s expectations last season.
>But looming decisions remain. Westbrook is a free agent. George is being distinctly challenged for his approach, but the same questions about George should also apply to Leonard as both enter an offseason of negotiations. Frank says Lue understands the front office’s efforts, but he also said Lue is “going to be flexible and adaptable” while being encouraged to take advantage of the abilities of “good players.”

    >You look at the teams we’re competing against: they don’t all have a traditional point guard,” Frank said. “In fact, I would challenge you to say very few do. They play through their best players. Who is the point guard of the Nuggets? It’s probably Joker (Nikola Jokić). I mean, Jamal Murray is quote-unquote the point guard. Golden State, Steph (Curry) is one of the all-time greats. But you can make an argument that Draymond is the trigger man. For Miami, Gabe Vincent starts at the point, but Bam (Adebayo) is the trigger man.”
Frank said the same thing in February after the trade deadline, using the Warriors, Bucks (Jrue Holiday x Giannis Antetokounmpo) and Celtics (Smart x Jaylen Brown x Jayson Tatum) as examples.

He just be saying whatever. I’m about sick of him as I am PG.

Okay… so what does Frank intend to do? Marcus Morris is still on the team but he’s here questioning Westbrook. If he wanted a Draymond style player why did Marcus Smart go to Memphis? Instead of trying to copy a dynasty on the downswing why not focus on building up and promoting the strengths of the team and improving its weaknesses? It’s like this guy just gives out these vague messages about toughness but doesn’t really have a clear plan as to what to do.

Sounds like a bs click bait article (even from the athletic) from a L frank quote taken out of context. Here’s what he said in context.

To me, I hear this being less of a knock on Westbrook (he actually praises him as a playmaker and player in the full quote), and more of a “we need a high IQ playmaking 4/5” and “I want Ty to go with that plan despite our differences in basketball philosophies.”

I’m not going to argue who is right, but it sounds like Ty wants a more traditional 1-5 line up (which Ty has proven to work well with) where as L Frank wants pure positionless basketball that we’ve seen many recent championship teams have (warriors, nuggets, etc)

ngl that sentence/paragraph hurt my head to read lol

L Frank is one of the main reasons this franchise is constantly in the gutter.

The existential crisis of the 213 era – we’re best when PG plays point guard except he doesn’t want to do it for one valid reason (it’s very tiring to do for a full season esp with his other responsibilities and injury history) and one really dumb reason (doesn’t like responsibility even though you’re the star)
