I call 🧢. Free Agency hasnt even started yet. They dont know what their team will look like.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome Deandre Ayton to the NBA’s official trade purgatory club alongside Myles Turner and John Collins

  3. RushFPS

Warriors also said they were keeping Poole lol this means nothing free agency hasn’t even started yet

I mean DeAndre Ayton is probably just as good or better than every other teams 4th best player so it’s not a big deal or anything that they’re keeping him.

  5. shellfish87

Very surprising that they want a center instead of a PF who is on a max contract but has the impact of John Konchar

  6. HoopsMcCann750

This seems incredibly obvious. Who is trading for Ayton and giving up pieces that would actually benefit the Suns?

  7. VoidTyrant

Either smoke or no one was going to give them anything

  8. MattRice15

If were not getting 2-3 guys that can play for us then we would be dumb to trade him, I’m glad we’re not trading him for scraps. Try to rebuild his value this season and make a decision next year.

What not getting an assassin scorer does to a franchise

An unfocused, inconsistent Ayton is still an 18 & 10 guy who provides decent defense. It’s not the worst thing to keep him.

  11. beer_down

He probably helps the team more than Suns fans think he does. But man am I sick of watching him pass up open lanes and standing around while rebounds are being taken by other players. Softest player with his build I’ve ever seen.

Maybe Vogel gets something out of him. But after 5 years its harder and harder to believe that anything external will change his mindset.

  12. zubsorg

Tobias’ dad tried to create that fake hype

  13. AleroRatking

Dude is going to be scapegoated so hard if Phoenix doesn’t win the title.

  14. Sweatytubesock

Tobias will remain a Sixer assassin.

  15. JoeTheHoe

This sub eviscerated the suns for a fake Tobias Harris trade lol.

In all seriousness, better to see if his value can be less hopeless than it currently is

  16. domingodlf

I hate the Suns and hope they fail spectacularly once again, but I think this is the right move. He seemed to be undervalued, Vogel will love him, and honestly he’s much better than this sub and suns fans would have you believe. Very solid defender and rebounder at the center position and he can definitely be a starting contributor for a championship team. Hell, if I’m completely honest, I think if he was putting up numbers on a bad team people would talk about him as a no brainer top 5 center. The Suns will lack A LOT of depth, but that ship sailed with the Beal trade imo.

Suns need to not overreact. Ayton is in his lower value, they will not receive what they need. let him play under Vogel. then you adjust if needed.

Buutt….of course /r/nba will stick with the rumors and will keep elaborating trades with him all the offseason.

  18. ColtCallahan

Highly doubt. Trading him is their only realistic shot at filling out this roster. Otherwise their rotations will be disgusting.

  19. jawntothefuture

damn here I was thinking they’d take Tobias Harris 🙁

  20. ScrewuGuysImGoingHme

Keeping Ayton until the next trade rumor comes next week

  21. ThislsMyAccount22

Deandre Ayton, you ARE a Phoenix Sun

  22. silliputti0907

People are clowning Ayton, but it’s been clear he doesn’t want to be there for at least 2 seasons. Keeping a player who wants out is going to lead to unmotivated play and scapegoating.

  23. Unseemly4123

I don’t think he really has much trade value in terms of what they need anyway, what they need is a center who isn’t Deandre Ayton lol, tough to trade the guy and get that in return.

  24. betweenthebars34

They know about the upcoming CBA right….?

  25. nickmetal

Everyone loves the term, ‘He has that dog in ’em’. I think Ayton perfectly encapsulates the exact opposite of that term. The man has no dog em.

  26. yousaytomaco

In 2036 he is going to retire as the team’s all time points leader and they will still be asking if he will be traded at his last game

  27. They are probably getting low balled out the ass so they sticking with him for the time being
