This feels like a bargaining move—signal our ceiling to Houston and Detroit and make them decide if they’re willing to overpay him without us matching. I’m curious how real it is (is Marks really willing to let him walk for nothing after touting the return for Durant?) but I guess it’s up to the rest of the league if they’re willing to gamble on him.
