Everyone was ready to crucify him for not saying goodbye 😂. I knew he was planning something like this. However, I’m sure those same people will still reply with hateful comments on socials.

There were a lot of rough patches but I’ll miss Brad for the good moments and what he did at his best for the team and community. Pretty good piece.

    > To everyone in DC: It’s bittersweet. I don’t like how “goodbye” sounds, so let’s just say “see you later.” (We still got 160 to get!! You never know.) Peace, Blessings, and Prosperity to the city and fans. I hope you’ll always consider me one of your own.

Brad, I am going to be totally honest with you. I appreciate you as a player and your tenure in DC, despite how it ended. The playoffs series against Boston will always be one of my most treasured memories. I truly enjoyed watching you play for the Wizards. All that said, I think we’re good. That record belongs to Elvin Hayes until we have our next legend.

I’ve been ready for the split for four years, but I wish him and the Suns success.

  6. Solid-Confidence-966

I appreciate his time here and especially those he runs made with Wall. That said, I would have no problem if he didn’t come back lol and I’m surprised he didn’t just say goodbye.

Hope he gets what he’s looking for in Phoenix. I said it in another thread, but his time here just came and went. It is what it is. No ill-will towards him as he did what ANYONE would have done when presented with all that money/power. He’s gonna have the best shot in his career to make a long run in the playoffs. Best of luck to him in the desert.

It wasn’t his fault the franchise doubled down on him after they abruptly traded Wall, and tripled down (is that even possible) when Westbrook asked out – who told Beal to leave btw. One could only hope he outplayed the front office dysfunction, but he didn’t. The injuries the last two seasons didn’t help either. All in all I’ll remember the Wall and Beal years fondly, and will spend thinking about Beal’s solo tenure and how different it might’ve looked had Ted Leonsis gave a shit and brought in someone externally at the start. He could’ve asked out at any point, but he didn’t want to be that kind of guy and I won’t be mad at him for such.

Phoenix has a lot going for it if he’s healthy. Tbh I would love a “I can’t believe Phoenix got Bradley Beal” narrative in January, cuz it means he is absolutely cooking.

  9. I’ve never seen any player thank that many individual people in a written piece. Its like 75 people he thanks one by one including head and assistant coaches, reporters like Chris Miller and staff members. That’s awesome.

  10. ConstantlyHating

Damn that was a pretty nice letter. Wish him nothing but the best

Beal will always be a DC legend despite the fact he couldn’t bring the ultimate prize home. One of my fav players and glad he loved the city for so long!

  12. Notorious_Beebs

Loved the guy when we had the House of Guards with the Wall/Beal duo. Once we went all in on Brad he just kind of faded in my mind. Glad we got some great years with him and hope he can make some noise in the west.

  13. InterviewDue5188

This was a great goodbye, Brad’s always been nothing but a class player. Always gonna root for him wherever he goes, he deserves that.

  14. get_too

The guy is and has always been class. Shame he wasn’t quite good enough to be that guy but he and the team are both in better shape now.

  15. MausoleumNeeson

DC legend & I don’t care if anybody says otherwise

  16. Hagdogrobinwood

Great job Brad!! Hope you get a ring.

  17. billcosby23

Man he gets so much unnecessary hate. He’s been nothing, but loyal to the Wizards and DC on and off the court and is almost the all time leading scorer. I wish him the best and success with the Suns and will always root for him just like Wall! Take care Brad!!

  18. TheDeHymenizer

Class act and a professional as always.

Personally I hope they do let him come back at some point to try to get that 161 points. Though def on a vet min contract lol

  19. machu46

Beal’s always seemed like a good dude. Just unfortunate he and the Wizards ended up in a pretty ugly situation here with them waiting so long to break up. Wish him the best of luck in Phoenix and hopefully the Wizards will be on the upswing again soon enough.

  20. iseeabluemoonrising

Even if it’s meaningless I kinda love the “we’ve still got 160 to get”

  21. Incompl

I would welcome him back at the vet minimum as a bench scorer once our rebuild is complete.

  22. StaffSgtDignam

Hopefully he wins a ring in Phoenix, lord knows he was never doing so here, given how much of a mediocrity dead end this franchise is. Will be weird seeing him playing in a conference finals though.

  23. SnooHedgehogs6553

Class act – loved how he always seemed court side for the Mystics.

    Basketball knows basketball.

  24. InGenNateKenny

It’s an end of an era. Beal is a great player and there a lot of fun memories that were had. It’s a great piece and it was especially nice to see so many people thanked. Even though him going is for the best of the franchise, it stings. The 160 points part was cute too.
