Before UCLA, he was an assistant for Loyola Maryland and UNC Charlotte and Hartford. He was also a scout for San Antonio and also coached their Summer Teams in 2013 and 14.
Also, much like Darko, was a head coach in Serbia at a pretty young age (24). He then went and coached in Spain at 28.
He seems like another coach that has a background in development. Plus, with his background in scouting, he seems like another guy that has an eye for talent. The coaching direction is very interesting so far.

Simovic is a big hire because of his background and connections he has with international prospects and recruiting them. He brought some top talents from Europe to NCAA which wasnt really preferred avenue for those kids and made them NBA players, guys like Santi Aldama most recently. 2 kids that already committed to UCLA (Jan Vide and Ilane Fibleuil) and Aday Mara which they were also favorites. Masai certainly saw something in that connection between Darko and Ivo that could he could use to run organization even better.
