Did not expect to see this when I checked the sub!

Nice!!! Collins gets to start over and will be in a much better situation. He can also play the 5 and does well defensively there

  3. JoeIngles

Absolute fleece. Sure, Collins has a big contract, but to give up Rudy Gay and a 2nd????? c’mon now lol.

  4. AcesOverPacific

If all we give up is Rudy and a 2nd I’m all for it.

We got Collins for Rudy Gay?!?!? Danny strikes again

  6. FaradaySaint

Wow. No one would have believed this trade was possible if you had proposed it here. Is he going to be the center when Kessler isn’t in, or take some of Olynyk’s minutes?

I’m a big fan of this. It allows Hendricks to be our backup PF this season, allow him to develop a bit.

We just need a solid PG and I think we are in great shape. Like 5th seed in the west good.

Imagine if he made 18-20 mill this would be a complete finesse. Maybe he will play up to his contract

Yo that’s a great trade. A pick we don’t need and no more rudy gay minutes! Plus I have a feeling Hardy will get more out of collins

Huge win! Super deep on the front court now, so I’d expect we ship off Kelly for an improvement at the PG position

  11. Damn, getting rid of Gay during pride month?

  12. CapN_Crummp

Y’all going to jail for this robbery. Idc if it was a salary dump, this insanely cheap lol

This means kuz is probably out of the picture. I am sure he will land a 25 million contract with some team but that might be an overpay yet we are paying John more.. and kuz is better.

Hmmm. A bit ambivalent about this one, though I’m thrilled we’re getting Rudy out of here. Maybe Collins can have a bit of a resurgence here?

This was an absolute fucking fleece. We had been trying to get Collins for years now, and all it ended up taking was the worst player on our roster and a 2nd round pick? I don’t even care if Collins isn’t the future star we once thought he was: this deal is amazing. Trader Danny did it again!!

I hope chemistry doesn’t plummet with Gay gone. People really did like him on the team.

I’m stoked for Collins though, thanks Quin

I’ve been a citizen of Collins island for a long time and have long been waiting for the day when he’s traded to a team where he’s not underutilized. The problem? I think he’s gonna be underutilized here as well.

Still, at that price I do that trade any day of the week.

Chance to rehab his image here and get back trade value. Great trade.

Will Hardy about to turn Collins into the next MIP

What the hell does Danny Ainge do in these negotiations, dangle people from a bridge? What a mastermind

Hi, Hawks fan dropping in to give some background about JC. Prior to this past year, he was absolutely a huge fan favorite. Productive big man who excelled in both the pick and roll and popping out for the corner three. Absolutely killed it with Trae feeding him lobs. He brought a ton of excitement and was around for our entire rebuild

Sometime in the 2021-2022 season (I think) he injured a finger on his shooting hand pretty bad which totally screwed up his 3 pt shot. He was also playing with Clint Capela, who played a similar role, making him a bit redundant. He was way less efficient on offense as a result, but he absolutely turned it up on defense (which is where most of his faults were for the first few years in the league)

He’s a great voice in the locker room, really likable, comes from a great background (military kid), local reporters say he’s always professional. It’s a huge loss that he didn’t work out in Atlanta, and I personally believe he can turn it around if his finger heals a bit more, but he was just too expensive for ownership to rationalize keeping him around
