KG got screwed so hard by his supporting cast in Minnesota and by being in the brutal 2000s West where bad supporting casts went nowhere
In a better scenario he might be remembered as Duncan’s equal in the GOAT PF conversation(not quite as good a scorer but a better playmaker, and as amazing as Duncan was defensively KG was at least equal if not slightly better on that end at his best)
I get why people hate superteams but if there’s one guy who deserved to finally be on a stacked team after sticking it out in Minny for 12 years it was him

The NBA robbed us of the Marbury/Garnett duo.

And he was even better on defense. Still the most underrated player of the 2000s because of the shitshow in Minnesota.
I’m glad he finally got to show what he could do in Boston but he was already 31 when he joined the Celtics. His prime years were wasted.

I can’t imagine a world in which KG is not a champion. Thank goodness he eventually left that franchise. I do wonder what could have been if he had been drafted to a better situation, though.

nasty. He kills you with kindness too, after destroying you with a dunk he makes sure you don’t fall (dunk#2).

I’m now imagining how good we would have been if Wiseman was half the player KG was.

Missing the dunk on Blake Griffin
(Granted, that wasn’t prime KG)

AND he wouldn’t push-off on the defender!

I’d absolutely love to see what KG would look like as a focal point in an team today. He was unbelievably versatile

That alley oop over Duncan was nice

To this day, seeing KG move doesn’t make sense. You forget how huge the guy was because he moves more like a wing and he does it gracefully. It’s commonly accepted that even though he was listed at 6’11”, he was a true a 7 footer.

Twolves really wasted this mans prime smdh

Along with the HoF dunk package, KG’s silky smooth capault-like jumpshot was automatic and that combination made him so tough to guard. Not to mention his release point was so high it was unblockable.
I was lucky to be able to watch KG in his prime.

KG dunking on opponents is the real MVP.
ecr1277
He’s crazy flexible for a seven footer, the way he cocks it back on his dunks is something even the most athletic seven footers can’t really do. Iirc it was really rare even for prime KD to do, and he’s pretty athletic. The difference is staggering.

I’m sorry but Boston KG was not prime KG. None of their big 3 were on their prime but that’s exactly what made them so great and committed to winning

Garnett gets so often overlooked. He’s second only to Duncan at his position, and part of me suspects he’d actually fair better in today’s NBA with his more perimeter-oriented approach on both ends.
As player comps go, I think Wemby resembles Garnett more than any other player.

2K just cant replicate this. We need another NBA Street.

To say anyone was better at playing basketball than Kevin Garnett is nonsense. At this all-time great elite tier it’s all about the variables and nuances. There are a group of players who were all equally great but with different variables involved. To say Duncan or Wilt or Steph, and vice versa, was better is simplistic and just inaccurate imo.

A lot of people forget KG won the MVP in 2004
