[Gambodoro, on the Ayton trade talks] Yes Dallas had interest – In getting off Hardaway, whom Luka does not want to play with, and McGee. They did not offer Maxi Kleiber or the 10th pick. The trade was never going to happen.

[Yes we have reported the Mavs interest for a long time now. Luka wants a pick and roll Center and I don’t believe he wants to play with Hardaway anymore. Dallas wants off McGee badly.](https://twitter.com/Gambo987/status/1673744567408160768)

We heard from Stein earlier about a THJ/Holmes for Ayton framework with McGee’s deal being the holdup. But Gambodoro, who is well-sourced with the Suns, makes it sound like no trade under that framework was imminent.

Ultimately, we should take a grain of salt considering how close Stein and Gambo are with the Mavs and Suns respectively. My assumption is that the Suns are going to continue to see if they can get viable depth at multiple positions with Ayton. Considering the Mavs themselves are in need of depth, I wonder whether the two teams even make sense as trade partners for Ayton.

What does this Gambomoron hack know about who Luka wants and dosent want to play with lmao

“Whom Luka does not want to play with”

Suns trying to sow discord. Tim gone anyway.

Edit: Does Tim and McGee for Ayton even work? That’s $10mil less than what Ayton makes.

Yeah I’m gonna trust Marc Stein infinitely more than Gambodoro with any Mavs related rumors

Such a classy ballclub the Suns. Hopefully we get to make them cry in the playoffs again.

Ah yes, Gambodoro, such a household and reputable name

On the Jazz feed they are just waiting and saying… we will get Luka next year.

It’s both teams posturing through their mouthpiece media guys. Just a couple of days ago, Gambo said they are deciding to keep Ayton after all, which seems like it could have been after the Mavs/Suns discussions ended. Then Gambo yesterday was hyping up that the Suns are going to have plenty of “premium” ring chasers willing to take the minimum for the Suns. So it’s basically Stein telling everyone they are not budging at their offer and Gambo saying “we have plenty of choices good for depth.”

Will they come back and talk again? Who knows, but I believe there was serious discussions like Stein said.

Bullshit reporting. Gambo doesn’t know jackshit about what happens inside the Mavs org. It’s like Townsend saying “Ayton despises KD”.

Can somebody explain to me exactly what Ayton’s value is??

Because at the end of the season, Suns fans wanted him gone and he was soft and wasn’t worth the money.

Now that they’re way over the tax with only 6 players on contracts he’s suddenly a Top 10 Center and is worth “2 rotational players and a younger piece”.

….if he’s the latter then, I dunno, Keep Him.

It’s not the rest of the league’s burden to bear because y’all went out and traded for a player ya didn’t need making $45M+ per year…..

tim will always be luka’s dawg for having some shame during that clippers series where brunson and tallman were shitting their pants lol he might be frustrating to watch sometimes but he gonna shoot that shot everytime luka passes him the ball and luka like players like that

Ah, my dear sir, it warms my heart to behold thy presence once more. Whilst the report from this gentleman may possess some veracity, the notion that Luka harbors no desire to engage in sport alongside Tim is naught but a fanciful fabrication, I dare say. Ere Kyrie’s return, Tim held a place of great distinction as the second finest player on our team, and he hath just concluded a most fruitful season whilst under a diminishing contract. Moreover, he hath shared the court with Luka since his earliest days in the league, and he stands as one of the few remaining comrades who possesseth a deep understanding of Luka’s preferred style of play. It doth strain credulity to believe that Luka, in his noble character, would entertain the thought of parting ways with him.

If all it took was Kleiber on top of THJ and McGee, and we didn’t do it, that’s asinine.

  13. question2552

    Alright fuck these Suns mouthpieces.

If I’m Dallas I don’t entertain this trade anymore.

  14. PieCuresAll

Lol now we’re just making up stuff. No way Luka & THJ have beef. Stupid assumptions from yet another wanna be “insider”. Get a hobby

  15. chasinglightph

This hack trying to make it seem he knows shit. Lmao

  16. hurricanesznsover

Suns didn’t get what they wanted (to trade Ayton) so they’ll spread some bullshit about their most hated player in Luka on the way out.

  17. inception27

First KP and now THJ. Luka, a cancer.

Figured I’d make a big post about the salary matching for an Ayton trade and what packages are legal for the Mavs to put together. To keep this simple, and likely realistic, I’ll assume that PHX doesn’t attach any other players to Ayton to change the math.

So for the ’23-’24 season, Deandre Ayton is set to make $32,459,438. The Mavs can exceed that number by up to 125%, which puts the upper limit of salary the Mavs can send back at $40,674,298. Conversely, the Mavs must send out at least an amount of salary that is within 125% of Ayton’s cap hit, which sets the lower limit for salary going out at ~$25,968,000.

I’m going to assume that THJ is going to be a part of any package, because he’s our most valuable trade piece and our most expendable trade piece, so it’s safe to assume he’ll be part of the deal. I’m also not going to bother listing any of our young 4 players. Nico’s made it clear going back to the Kyrie trade that Green and Hardy are not availabe, and there’s no reason to believe they feel differently about Lively and OMax.

So here’s a list of player combinations that fall within the upper and lower limits of Ayton’s contract.

    THJ+Holmes = $29.8m

    THJ+Holmes+Bullock = $40.2m

    THJ+Holmes+McGee = $35.5m

    THJ+Kleber = $28.8m

    THJ+Kleber+Bullock = $39.2m

    THJ+Kleber+McGee = $34.5m

    THJ+Bullock = $28.2m

    THJ+Bullock+McGee = $33.9m
