The Boston Celtics are the favorites to sign Nikola Vucevic (+300 odds) if he does not re-sign with the Chicago Bulls.

Is this even a possibility? This is the first I’m hearing about this. Vucevic is an unrestricted free agent this summer. Currently 32 years old and seems like a good fit with the team on paper. With Al getting up there in age, is it possible this could be true?

How tf are we getting Vucevic though? We already have too many bigs

If so, I’m shocked. I read the story someone posted here about Kyle Lowry(???) and basically the way things work now if Heat keep Lowry they pay him his salary and like $30M annually in taxes. I ignore “capology” but I’ve got to imagine Celts have to be somewhat close to those limits too.

Did anyone fact check this? That don’t sound right

I think there was talk about this during the playoffs but the Porzingis trade absolutely punts this into the shadow realm

Don’t see how the taxpayer MLE gets Vucevic, but, hey, if he wants to sign here for that, you can’t really say no.

They don’t mention on which sportsbook these odds are listed, so I’m inclined to say they’ve made it the fuck up.

How do people think we can afford him if we very likely can’t even afford Grant Williams

If he signs somewhere between like $18-$22 mil, it could be a S&T for Brogdon and picks and the Bulls use Brogdon once he’s healthy as a replacement for Lonzo.

Or he signs into the T.E. left over from the Grant deal. If it’s to the right team I can see him signing for less. He’s made his money.

Or honestly I can see something where Rob goes to the Bulls and we roll out:

    – White (149 3PM)

    – Brown (163 3PM)

    – Tatum (240 3PM)

    – KP (137 3PM)

    – Vucevic (121 3PM)

Still have Al, PP, Hauser and another FA vet off the bench.

Looks like they wanna just win by the 3 ball and nothing else.

I have a feeling Brad is cooking up something wild.

If the guy wants to be a backup and play for the minimum? Fine. But I would just assume that that tweet is nonsense.

Wouldn’t mind having him at all, but confused on how that would work.

Uh no, send him to lakers since they seem to want everyone we good over here

People take sports books way to seriously. They are designed to separate you from your money and that is all.

  13. HighlandHilltopper

one of the worst defenders in the league, do not want

  14. thabonedoctor

    KP/Al/Timelord/Vucci/Kornet lineup incoming let’s gooooo

  15. Why???? We don’t need another big like him when we jus got KP and have no money💀

  16. Ear_Enthusiast

If true, Al or Rob are outgoing. I’m guessing Rob. Need to trade him before his legs are cooked. Hopefully we can get something big in return. Maybe a good young guard.

4 Bigs lineup with Point Tatum unlocked.

  18. shortpersonohara

Yeah nah lmao, our realistic FA options are MLEs

  19. Goffsyrup

Pass, need a gaurd. Preferably a facilitator who can play at least a little D.

  20. Agitated_Ant_1201

Good at rebounding so okay on defense but he sucks as a help defender and primary on a center.

  21. minimumhatred

let’s see, we have with Porzingis, Horford and Rob about 57m dedicated to three guys who all will eat most of not all the center minutes this season. clearly what we need is a 4th guy, let alone a guy who can only play center…

so yeah, no, if I wanted a 4th center we have Kornet, and if I was so desperate for a 5th one we can re-sign Blake since he brings good vibes at least. what would we even want vucevic for? anything he provides we already have in droves.

I have a better chance of dating a supermodel than the Celtics do of getting him to sign for the veteran’s minimum.

  23. JohnBagley33

Brad used to always say that the team needed to add “shooting with size” when he was coaching. This rumor and the Porzingis trade would lead you to believe that it is still a top priory for him.

  24. j128183

There’s a negative 5000% chance of this happening. Celtics just don’t have a path to be able to acquire a player via S&T.

  25. Rishikrish29

If he comes here for the MLE honestly I’d take it. But no shot he does that considering his age and Chicago would probably want to give him at least $20 million a year given their roster and what they gave up for him
