[The Athletic] As reported back in May, NBC Sports has shown interest in bringing the NBA back to the network, a person with knowledge confirmed to The Athletic. NBC has even proffered to bring back “Roundball Rock,” the famed John Tesh opus if it were to get NBA rights.

Just get Bally Sports off my planet and shoot them into the fucking sun. I’m so annoyed as someone that loves basketball that I can’t watch any team within 6 hours of me, I don’t even live where a team is. Pacers, Cavaliers, Grizzlies ALL blacked out and my internet is too poor to sail the seas right now. That means if only those 3 teams are playing + national broadcast games I don’t get to watch shit.

round ball rock is used by like fox sports during college bball i think. threw me for a loop when i heard it.

  3. atlfirsttimer

This is good because the NBA needs to be on more network TV . ABC every now and then ain’t cutting it

  4. Let Tim Robinson do the new version of the song though obviously

  5. Zmoney743

I would like to hear Torico call games again. Much more than some of the current announcers (ESPN)

Nba if you really want more $ marketshare and coverage, expand to all 4 networks like nfl AND ROTATE THE FINALS, ESPECIALLY CBS

ONLY THEN CAN WE GET THE TNT GUYS ON THE FINALS just like march madness

BA-BA-BA-BA-BA-BASKETBALL GIMME GIMME GIMME THE BALL BECAUSE IM GONNA DUNK IT

  8. Vexing_Pie

NBA on NBC and NBA on TNT is the dream. Just need Mike Breen to leave for NBC.

I say hell yeah. NBC in general does a great job with sports. The more national games the better I say. I have zero interest in watching the Supersonics’ greatest rival, the Trailblazers on Root Sports.

    NBC does sports right.

Look at what they did with Sunday Night Football.

NBA on NBC was iconic and we need it back.

NBC Sunday afternoon NBA double-headers were the best. Can we get Ahmad Rashad back too?

Crazy how the NBA somehow doesn’t know how to market itself in the US. The NFL is like carbon, it’ll bond with anyone. Oh you want rights to show an NFL game? Great idc what you have going on before or after, but if you’re willing to give me money to put eyeballs on my product, sign me up. I mean ffs, we had Patrick Star commentating on an NFL game.

Have the NBA on a four major networks so people without cable can watch, rotate the finals, make league pass more affordable. It’s fucking easy.

Roundball rock is overrated just like everything else from the 90s. ESPN’s old themes before they shelved them for the shitty new ones this year murk

“Now they’re saying it’s Apple TV”

  15. CabbageStockExchange

Give the people what they want!

  16. RealLanceStorm

Please save us from ABC/ESPN. I still have a blast watching back Bulls 90s playoff games with the NBC presentation.

Don’t fuck over neutral cities like Kansas City. The nuggets AND the thunder are “local” teams.

It’s 8 hrs to Denver I can get to Minneapolis faster than that. And Chicago is about same difference. But don’t fuck me with blackouts of two teams

  18. DicksForYourFace

I loved playing NBA on NBC in the arcade.

  19. StoneColdAM

If this happens, I think it will be Warner Bros Discovery selling their NBA rights somehow.

  20. DoctorTheWho

The only drawback to ABC/ESPN losing the NBA to NBC would be ESPN becoming nothing but 24/7 NFL coverage.

  21. NLCPGaming

The best option is the option that gives us every game on a streaming platform. No black outs, unlimited replays, an on court option to hear the players (this may never happen but I might as well dream lol)

  22. Spaghettibeach

Let’s fuckin gooooo, I need this theme so I can finally sing my lyrics over it “you can suck on my dick and balls, you can lock all the doors and hold all my calls (baby)”

  23. wittyphoshop

First and foremost, fuck John Tesh. That guy can eat it.

That being said, Roundball Rock is one one the greatest pieces of art of modern Man, and I cannot deny that the NBA is in a better place when graced with its sublimes notes.

  24. Waste_Ask_6918

If you’re using a nostalgic song to drive your traffic instead of taking of modern day technological innovations then you should probably stay away

  25. MikeIuzzolino

That theme should stay in the past so as not to ruin our nostalgia

  26. GhostOfJiriWelsch

Give me Tirico calling NBA games, he’s so good

I love Harlan, but if you go back and look at some mid to late 2010’s highlights, the absolute best calls are all from Tirico.

His call on the [Dame buzzer beater](https://youtu.be/7b1LDQqcjII) is legendary.

[Lebron’s dunk on Jason Terry](https://youtu.be/fm_t6OfBF7Y) is another fire Tirico call.

  27. Armanhammer2

I hate ABC so much please let TNT and anyone else broadcast it

  28. Nice-Setting3307

I feel your pain! Let’s send Bally Sports on a one-way trip to the sun and bring back some hoops for all!

  29. maaseru

    The N B A on N B C!

The return of the classic theme alone is worth it and it can’t possibly be worse than ESPN/ABC.

  30. maaseru

Please don’t bring back Jim “Worst questions at the the worst time” Gray. I think I learned about cringe from some of his interviews.

  31. DoctorK16

I hope so. The NBA on ABC/ESPN has been absolute garbage from the start. Just boring. Can’t believe it’s been over 20 years.

  32. Cappybaba

Put it on streaming and don’t lock it to cable.

  33. __TRICEPCURLS

Hopefully it would come at the expense of ESPN and not TNT.

  34. astarisaslave

Bababababa basketball gimme gimme gimme the ball because I’m gonna dunk it
