[Stein] It has reached the point when I speak to various teams that it would be a legitimate leaguewide surprise now if Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks don’t strike verbal agreements to join the Houston Rockets by Friday night.

> It has reached the point when I speak to various teams that it would be a legitimate leaguewide surprise now if Fred VanVleet and Dillon Brooks don’t strike verbal agreements to join the Houston Rockets by Friday night.

>VanVleet, as covered in this cyberspace Wednesday, is expected to receive a two-year offer from Houston worth a projected maximum of $83.6 million.

>Brooks has been regarded for days as an even likelier free agent to join the Rockets — also on a two-year deal in the $14-to-$16 million range annually

PG Scottie here we go. I wish our top 6 protected pick was more top 10 protected smh

Houston putting together an all time shot chucking team

When taking emotions out of it, these could be really good additions.

  4. Dillon Brooks is the perfect type of stand-up guy they want around all their young players.

I have no idea what the rockets are going to be next year. Any coach other than Udoka and I’d say a glorious dumpster fire, but I honestly have no idea what they’re cooking.

Fred makes sense from a fit and contract perspective. If the rockets are interested in Brooks he will sign there as I doubt he has many teams interested right now, but I think he would be a bad signing for the Rockets.

Can we expect a 6:00:01pm tweet from Woj on Friday saying Fvv is headed to Houston?

I think Brooks could be a great reclamation project for some team but not Houston.

The biggest problem in Memphis was that he was a “vet” and team leader because the team was so young. That’s why he was allowed to chuck so much. If he joins a veteran team he won’t have that leeway.

Houston are such a young team you could see those bad habits staying because a bunch of rookies and sophomores aren’t likely to hold Brooks accountable.

Im not particularly excited about rooting for Brooks on a nightly basis but I believe he’s become underrated on this sub. Especially if the length and amount of the contract is going to be close to what Stein is reporting.

Also known as tampering.Other teams can do this but we get docked second round picks

  11. I like the idea of bringing in vets for this young core. I really like FVV to help KPJ develop further and allow him to play more off-ball and act a secondary facilitator and just give some more structure to the offense.

Brooks I’m not as sold on. I really think if they’re going to continue to build around KPJ, Green, Sengun, and Smith they should remain the starting 5. It’s hard to see how Brooks would respond to being a bench player. Vets are important to have, but we also the saw negative influence Wall (refusing to come off the bench), Wood (refusing to pass the ball), and Gordon (super negative attitude on and off the court) potentially had on this team. They need the right vets and FVV and Lopez feel like the type that will help this core grow. I’m not sure Brooks is that guy.

Weaker FA class. One of the teams with the most cap space. The money has gotta be spent. Makes a lot of sense.

I like the two year deal structures too. Don’t necessarily have to hard commit to either of them, keeping the contracts tradeable. FVV could potentially be that PG they’ve been needing while Amen develops. Brooks has good defensive upside and can challenge guys like Green at practice. I could also easily see a scenario where FVV is on the trade block at the deadline because Amen caught on quicker than expected.

Rocket fans want this team to get better but don’t want to make the moves to help the team be better lol.

FVV & Brooks aren’t perfect players but they provide winning qualities that this young core desperately needs

    Congrats to Fred

He is going to hate it there.

What the hell are the Rockets doing? Huge overpay for FVV though I think the Brooks addition may be fine, depending on the money. It just seems like the Rockets think they are closer to being a playoff contender than they really are.

That locker room is going to be interesting

Green, Porter Jr., new rumored troubled rookie Whitmore then add Brooks lead by horndog Udoka

  17. smalls_1804

Does Toronto just kind of…have to blow it up at that point? A team that already had an issue with depth is now losing their starting PG who’s their lead playmaker and second-leading scorer. Even if Scottie is ready to take a leap who’s replacing the 37 minutes per game Fred was playing?

  18. ASAP_SLAMS

I really hope they push for a 3 year deal for Brooks; would love to bring him back if they’re making a more serious playoff push by then

Ever since FVV said fuck pop at the raptors parade hes been my most hated player in the league. The fact hell be on the rockets now just makes it more convenient.

I have absolutely no idea what houston is doing.
I also think houston has no idea what houston is doing.
