Best player fit wise we could’ve got and we had to spend our money somewhere, I’m happy

Lots of $, hopefully he pans out.

It’s a win. 3 years is fine, the money didn’t really matter. Exactly what this team needed.

#FRED VAN FUCK YEAH!!!! WHO’S NEXT?!?!?
Chaps_and_salsa
So much money for Fred. Hopefully it’s a good fit.

Just saw a Houston stripper fall to her knees while on stage – another thread talking about this signing 😂
Baketan
Would have much, much, much preferred 2 years, but it is what it is.
JengaKing12
It’s an overpay, but it’s an overpay we needed to make. Quality point guards with championship experience don’t come to 22 win teams for cheap. I dig the signing
based-sam
Unless he has a son before every game we got robbed
aluminumace
The number is high, but Sengun and JG have three more years on rookie deal, great bridge pickup.
eramthgin007
Big hype for 3 years, feels expensive per year, but he’s the best fit, young, championship experience, and 3 years from now his contract will look like a steal due to the free agency market getting more and more bonkers every year.
Unless he gets injured of course but overall I’m happy.

Terrible deal

If we don’t get Lopez because of this contract size I’m gonna be upset ngl
Thebiggest6200
Gimme Lopez and brooks and let’s run it
Yulluly
The AAV is what it is. That 3rd year though is going to be difficult to move out off if we decide to move on from him at that point.

not a fan of the extra year off first glance i cannot lie to u

FVV is a dog and a champion. We need that on the team rn regardless of the price tag 💯

Hi I’m not a Houston fan and just saw the news. 43M per is wild bruh. I’m also confused on why he’s even there as Amen just got drafted and KPJ is there. Why another guard? Genuinely asking lol if anyone has a answer please tell
DynamoPro
Honestly? Disgusted with the contract details. I wanted Amen to start soon and make a few trades this year and next.

God awful

This is the type of move that a desperate GM makes to save their job even though it fucks over the team.

Too long and too much money

To those saying we should have signed Harden for 50m/yr, if we do that, we will not have a shot at Brook (or even Dillon lol) because of the remaining cap.
Now, is this an overpay? Absolutely. Is FVV better than all of our PGs? Absolutely. He struggled last season, yes, but he’s just 29. Not our money anyway. It’s Tilman’s. No one should accuse him of being cheap for a moment 😂.
Is this a bad move for Stone? If he’s confident that he can trade FVV down the line without attaching many valuable draft picks, it’s going to be fine. If Amen becomes a superstar in year 1, I don’t think Rafael will hesitate from letting FVV go. 45m/yr wouldn’t be easy to move, but possible.
Is this a good move? In a vacuum, yes, because who are we saving the capspace for? Who’s willing to go to Houston now? If year 3 is a team option, way better. But if not, trading an expiring shouldnt be difficult enough. Or we can just use our rookies’ bird rights and go into the tax threshold for the 3rd yr.

Seems like most people in this sub didn’t want Harden at 3yr/$130 mil but now we have FVV at that price and they seem ok with it. Doesn’t make sense.
Kevita24
Raptors fan here, FVV is one of the toughest players I’ve ever seen, he’s a leader, he’s got balls as big as baseballs, and he will bring a very different mentality and vibe to your lock room…he will call out the young guys no problem if need be.
He had a “down year” it was more like the first half of the year but in the second half he carried the Raptors on his shoulders and played amazing…
He’s going to leave a massive hole on our roster and I really have no clue what Toronto’s FO’s plan is now, Siakam and or OG are likely going to be shopped now because without Fred this team isn’t a playoff team
DeuxDR
Didn’t want to pay Harden, yet massively overpaid for FVV. Sheesh.

Too much money on one player. He better really put that money on the basketball court.
