    After the crazy first day of free agency Brooklyn accomplished what they set out to do: Traded Joe Harris to the Pistons to open up another huge 19 million TPE which gives Brooklyn more flexibility.

    More importantly Brooklyn resigned one of their new cornerstones in Cam Johnson for 4 years and 108 million.

    Brooklyn is now 6 million under the luxury tax threshold. The next move feels like trading Patty Mills remaining 6 million salary to open up the full 12.4 MLE which would be big in getting a good role player….

    Everyone needs to look at the fact the East is very wide open right now:

    Boston traded their best defensive player in Marcus Smart, Miami lost their two best scorers in Gabe Vincent and Max Strus, 76ers are losing James Harden and the Raptors lost Fred Vanfleet….

    Brooklyn has a great core of defensive players in Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson Dorian Finney Smith Spencer Diwiddie and Nic Claxton.

    If Ben Simmons can return to his elite defensive identity this team can be a tough defensive squad next season….

    Looking at the free agents thst are left, Christian Wood Jock Landale and Mason Plumlee stand out as far as Brooklyn addressing the backup center role. If Brooklyn trades Mills salary away the full 12.4 million MLE gets opened again and could be key to signing either one of these quality backup centers….
