Chet Holmgren in his return: 15/9/2 with 4 blocks

Very solid game overall after a year off the court against the Jazz. Showcased his elite rim protection and offered glimpses of his offensive bag, despite being a little rusty at times. He’ll be a menace within the system of Swiss army knives on the actual Thunder roster.

15 PTS, 9 REB, 2 AST, 4 BLK, 6-14FG

Watch him and Wemby finish top 5 in DPOY voting

One handed blocks are so yesterday, new shift in the meta is already two handed blocks.

Once he gets his conditioning up there he’ll be good, he looked exactly as advertised as a rim protector. Offense showed flashes of good skill. Handles looked great. I like what I saw overall.

  4. Waikuku3

He doesn’t have to do too much offensively when he plays with Shai. Just focus on defense first and his game will come

Can we start the season now? I am so hyped for how fun next season is going to be

He started rough, but his defense was elite. He affected so many more shots than just the four he blocked. He totally changes the dynamic of the team with his defense.

  7. Squidpsyco

Pretty solid for his first competitive game in almost a year

  8. Thunder are going to be scary very soon. I could see the West returning to its former glory

chet was definitely feeling his game out his foot a bit and you can compare him to last year when he was doing a lot more work on the perimeter. today he was driving a ton to the paint and i imagine that’s by both his choice and okc’s design to help him get confidence in loading up.

despite that, chet was doing a ton of ball handling bringing the ball up and i imagine once we get him some real nba lineups, we’ll be using him as a playmaker in the high post. he did that a lot in gonzaga, and we use giddey in that role too. it’d be dope to have giddey and chet be interchangeable in some sets.

and my last point is – okc drafted chet (and literally every player since the rebuild started) with the expectation that everyone can dribble, pass and shoot. chet is expected to be a multi faceted player whether he was pick #200 or #2!

As long as he doesn’t get trucked by LeBron. Hopefully he’ll stay healthy.

  11. Will add that not much offence was actively run through Chet today. Lots of the Thunder G-Leaguers were very intent on creating and taking their own shots (as expected in the SL). Can’t wait to see him with Giddey specifically.

I love this dude. He’s gonna change how we look

You telling me OKC has this guy with Shai and they have good young role players? Dare I say theyre looking “scary”

  15. tokengreenguy

I think he’s gonna be an all nba guy. He’s comfortable offensively.

We can all agree Chet ROTY takes aren’t memes any more? At this point we need a dark horse outside of him and Wemby

  17. unclehelpful

Hopefully he can stay fit, excited to see him with SGA, Giddey and the JWills.

  18. Hope he’s healthy this year. Would love to see him fight for ROTY

  19. gonzagylot00

I worry that any time Chet plays against a dirty player that he’s in danger, but that was impressive tonight. His timing on blocking shots was impressive.

    OKC drafting scouts don’t miss

  21. CupOfHotTeaa

Bros a menace, just running into the jazz players all game

  22. cuhman1cuhman2

Wemby, Chet, Kessler, JJj, and Mobley will win the next 15 or so dpoys, and I dont think thats a hot take their only comp is Ad who won’t be healthy enough to win or Brook, but I think he has a little too much mileage.

Guess it’s time to retire my one-handed block highlight reel! 🤚✋ We’ll all be aiming for the double-handed blocks now! 💪😂

  24. An excellent game, which above all shows that Holmgren is not at all apprehensive. An excellent omen for the future!
