With the Damian Lillard potential trade out of Portland possibly slowing down its momentum in the short-term, there have been some rumblings that Ben Simmons could possibly be included in a deal that would involve the Blazers, Nets, and Heat.
It’s an interesting discussion about Ben Simmons and his value (or lack thereof) right now and what it would take to move off the contract. Are there worlds where the Nets shouldn’t actually do it and instead play it out over the next couple of seasons.
Where do Portland and Miami stand in this as well and what is the status of the Ben Simmons contract as it stands today?

It's wild the Nets have to include a 1st to trade Ben…What a waste
Good morning everyone. Looking at this blockbuster three team trade Brooklyn has two routes they can go to acquire Tyler Herro.
The one route that people wouldn't like as much is trading Spencer dinwiddie and Dorian Finney Smith as salary filler with some draft compensation.
However both Spencer and Dorian bring great veteran leadership and some intangibles on playmaking and defense. Meanwhile the other route that the Nets are pushing for is sending Ben Simmons as the main trade piece to acquire Herro and maybe send out a Cam Thomas or Royce o Neale to bring back possible extra compensation on top of it…
Ben Simmons was at one point one of the best defensive players in recent memory but his confidence has dipped in the last few seasons with his inability to score at an impressive clip and due to his back injury his defense has at times been lackluster and lacking intensity…
More importantly Simmons has been unavailable for the last two straight post seasons and Brooklyn wants everyone especially someone on a max contract to be available for long stretches….
Unfortunately we don't know if Ben Simmons will return to that endurance focused level so unless another team jumps ahead of Brooklyn as a third team the Nets will be headstrong in using Simmons as the main piece and want extra compensation on top of acquiring Herro. Quite honestly it comes down to how desperate is Miami in wanting to acquire Lillard…..
Also if people want to know one reason why Brooklyn would want to get off Ben Simmons contract is Nic Claxton. Claxton is due for a big pay raise next off-season. Having Simmons contract off the books would help resigning Claxton a much easier process.
Ultimately if Brooklyn acquires Herro being able to have Herro Bridges Johnson and eventually Claxton under contract for the next few seasons would allow that core to build real stability chemistry and cohesion….
Get rid of him IMMEDIATELY!!!
I’ll take him on my heat frfr
Right now in the negotiating process Brooklyn wants to acquire extra compensation or another player on top of Tyler Herro. That could be a first round draft pick multiple second round picks, a young prospect like Nikola Jovic…..
What would everyone else want to see Brooklyn try to add to the return of Tyler Herro???
Ben Simmons sucks. He can't shoot and is a defensive liability.
If the nets can’t ditch Ben and get Tyler it’s a w
Simmons contract is a negative. There's only a few teams left who can even 'rent cap space'. His contract is only probably more valuable at its final year. While I can see Nets not wanting to attach assets to get rid of him; what's the incentive for other team to take on a liability. Why would another team give good expiring contracts to match Simmons, if they don't get anything out of it. If Nets doesn't want to pay to get rid of him, then the topic of today's episode is really a non starter.
To get off that contract and get herro that would be expensive. How on earth do you really think your not going to have to pay a ton to get off that contract??
On the Harden v Simmons trade, Sean Marks took an L on that one. Yes Harden is still asking out from Philly but he was 'useful' for that 1+ season. Even though they failed in playoffs; they were at least able to use him. Even with Harden walking, Morey might still be able to get something out of it. At the very least, once Harden leaves; their cap will free up to further improve the roster. Simmons on the other hand; is barely healthy. His deadweight contract also means Nets is limited in how much they can improve their roster. That's why guys like Harris (slightly negative contract) got moved first.
They should of never got him in the first place, how foolish to do so
Hold. I say give him this season to prove himself. He had 1 bad year, although back injuries could be serious
Terrible take you dont trade a three time all star at his lowest value
Bol Bol has been waived. 23 years old, ball handling, shooting, 7”2 not sure why the Nets shouldn’t simply add him to their roster with like two roster spots opened.
