[Weinbach] The Lakers, Sixers, and Heat are potential landing spots for free agent forward Christian Wood. There doesn’t seem to be much of a market for the talented big man. Wood is not expected to remain with Dallas after averaging 16.6 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season.

Honestly don’t understand why the Lakers would want Christian Wood here. He’s perpetually in a contract/prove it deal mode being on 7 teams in the last 8 years.

Extremely talented big man and can space the floor next to LeBron/AD but hasn’t bought in defensively. And just might be too bad of a defender to improve realistically.

  1. What happened with wood in Dallas last year? Did he have some sort of beef w/ Kidd?

I’d easily give him the vet min plus the remainder of the MLE.

Low risk high reward play and I don’t want AD banging at the 5 all regular season

Dallas just traded for grant Williams and hard capped

Super talented, but everything I’ve heard is that he’s selfish, extremely low ball Iq , and awful on defense.

We can fix him I swear…

I would prefer Willy Hernangomez or Bismack. This team has enough scoring if AD misses time. They need defense and rebounding.

I’d rather have him than Bol Bol that’s for sure

MIAMI could def use him more tbh. The Lakers dont need more scorers u need a real dirty work big.

Idgaf, Id take him. Hes got issues but on a vet min he’s worth the risk for a guy that can go off offensively. He can help load manage AD at least during the regular season.

I’ve kinda conceded to the fact that there’s no stopping Jokic, even if u bother him 1v1, he has way too many tools that he will pick you apart with other actions, like DoHs, pnr, etc. Best bet is to make Jokic work on defense, and Wood at the bare minimum can do that.

I mean for a vet min he is probably too talented to pass up. He would definitely get minutes here, so I imagine we are one of the more attractive landing spots for him if he doesn’t get more than a min.

Lakers most likely but I could see him getting Mins with the heat.

  12. Philly still has their full MLE and Heat have their Tax MLE. I just don’t see him jelling in Miami though.

As to the two knocks on him. 1. He’s never played on a team w/ a strong leader to keep him on check, he’s been on bad teams. 2. His defense looked great against the Lakers, so I think it’s more motor/attitude than ability. I think the big problem w/ Wood isn’t ability but him being the kind of bigman who’s effort on the defensive end only comes w/ either getting a starting spot or touches on the offensive end. Maybe he’s humbled a bit, but I think his success would really depend on having a reliable role otherwise it will end poorly.

mavs played dwight powell over this guy and it was probably the right choice. says a lot about him

Lakers are unserious if they take Wood over Biyombo. Biyombo is the winning player. Christian Wood is not a team player and doesn’t fill any weaknesses.

People think Bron, Ad, and Ham could fix him. But id argue he would break them.

Specially Bron. Bron seeing bad hussle on defense will bitch the whole game with bad body language.

16.6 isn’t something to scoff at, I’ll take that shit

This would seem like a move to keep ADs minutes low and minimize injuries in the season and position him to be fresh for the playoffs.

Makes a lot of sense from that standpoint.
