[BostonGlobe] According to @ramonashelburne, the Celtics have expressed interest in acquiring Damian Lillard and have the assets to get it done, but they are not on his list. Boston is “not a city that (Lillard) would necessarily welcome going to right now.”

Dude wants to play for a contender. IDK how trading him to boston could possibly be seen as not doing right by him.

  2. nativeindian12

Tatum and Brad Stevens could convince him. Does he want to play for a winning team or not? Boston is one of the most storied franchises in the league

  3. completebrainrot

His dedication to Miami is so perplexing. There are teams that would be contenders post-trade and give us better packages. Celtics’ isn’t much better, but I’d take it over a Herro package

  4. TheRealFakeDoors503

Ya but what’s the package? We taking Jaylen and his Supermax back?

  5. bigdubbayou

I love Dame, but we are not handicapping our franchise to accommodate someone who has never won a conference finals game. He will play in Boston and he will like it.

  6. JoeCroninAlt

Fuck him then. Let him sit out the remainder of his contract or retire.

  7. TheLegendofTyler

I’d be curious to see what a package from Boston looks like.

  8. geese1401

Poor Ramona.. those rabid Miami heat weirdos are about to come for her

  9. JacobGouchi

Isn’t this ideal for Portland fans? Dame gets his shot at a ring, just not on a team or in a city he wants to be on or in. Celtics actually have some solid trade assets and who’s to say you can’t get some of them? Celtics kind of can’t say no to Dame/JT pairing as long as they can keep enough to be competitive. Idk though really at all I’m a casual

  10. toadtruck

That would piss off miami fans the most so do that lmao

  11. holman8a

Please be Jaylen. Even if picks are only 2-3 firsts, the picks from contenders are usually going to junk late in the first round anyway (obviously unless they got them through trades).

  12. denzel56k

my guess would be that the return for lillard from boston would make their roster worse than if he was on miami.

Tyler herro package would make a lineup of: Dame-Richardson-Butler-Martin-Bam

if boston were to trade, they would need to send Jaylen brown in any deal, so:
    Dame-White-Tatum-Porzingis-Williams

I feel like Boston always screws over their PGs. Traded IT after he played his heart out for the city once his sister passed and he had a messed up hip, rushed Kemba back when he clearly wasn’t ready to play and then the whole Kyrie saga (that was mainly Kyrie though). They do have one of the better packages to offer though.

  14. Scalmaa

Thats cool, he’s not a free agent. Im calling that bluff if im boston.

  15. NotXsoXoptic

I’m not a blazers fan nor a Celtics fan but this just seems like bait all around

  16. cippy91

I don’t know if I buy all of this other team stuff but I would have the Celtics as the favorite out of the east over Miami with dame. If they have a better package, fuck it and send him. He wants a contender or a team with a shot. Boston would certainly be it.

  17. Firedomm

Should’ve added the no trade clause then, Dame.

  18. Selfishly it would be a nightmare if Dame got traded to Boston because I live here. It would bring me to a very sad place if I saw him won a title for them and not Portland

  19. ValleyBrownsFan

Doesn’t matter where Lillard wants to go, what matters is the Blazers getting the best deal and building the team for the future.

  20. MR___SLAVE

Portland should not care at all about where he wants to go. The only consideration should be who is offering the best package.

During Lillard’s entire time in Portland, the best FA they managed to attract was Evan Turner. The best player they traded for Grant.

Dame, sorry not sorry. The only chance they have to win is by drafting and that means getting the best assets possible from a trade.

  21. politicole07

Cry me a river. Jaylen Brown, YOU are a Trail Blazer.

  22. Winning cures everything, you can’t tell me Boston wouldn’t win a ton of games with Lillard, even if they give up Brown.

  23. Intelligent_Self1034

Fuck Boston we’re appeasing Dame and he’s going to Miami

  24. FeralRollyPolly

yall really wanna send dame to that racist ass bog town, this is the worst subreddit on the planet

  25. Jollyhat

Sorry Dame, you don’t get to have your cake and eat it too.

  26. stfoooo

He doesn’t have to welcome it, he just has to honor his contract.

  27. Mcfallen_5

Why the fuck didn’t he just leave in FA then?? Jesus christ. You just resigned LAST YEAR, if you wanted to go to Miami so badly you shouldn’t have done that.

  28. HereForTheTanks

It’s not a choose your own adventure book, Jesus. You actually have to play where your contract owners trade you.

  29. Gotta remember this is a negotiation… Dame started this negotiation by saying Miami is the alpha and omega, to prevent other teams from joining the fray, but of course that’s not the only situation he’d go for. As long as the Blazer FO doesn’t send him to a marginal situation, that should be as much as they need to do out of respect for Dame.

  30. kidchameleom

If you could only have one in a trade, would you rather have brown or timelord?

  31. Orwell1971

    Call the waaambulance.

Boston is a contender. Whether he wants to go there or not, I wouldn’t feel an ounce of remorse if the Blazers traded him there. It would be doing right by him, whether he looked at it that way or not. Certainly a far cry from trading him to Detroit or something.

I would also be excited by the possibility that Jaylen Brown might be included in such a trade.

  32. Jestfulbadger888

Celtics fan here. Who gives a fuck. If he got traded to boston think about how mad miami would be 😆.

  33. durmduke

If Dame has to leave, Boston is a perfect fit (I know, I know fucj Boston). But Miami lost all their depth/wings. Giannis is having a recovery year. Knicks and Cavs still figuring it out. Boston is in the Finals next year with Dame. And we’d probably get Jaylen Brown, a very hard piece to get in Guard City. Then we’d really just be hunting for a young, durable center around the time Sharpe and Scoot are ready.
