celtics fleeced? Grant williams for second round picks is kinda ass

  4. Turbo2x

Celtics got hosed in this one. Guess they got something back for Williams but damn

  5. Otherwise_Warning922

why do the Celtics hate Grant lmao

  6. yooston

So Grant Williams is essentially traded for nothing… wow.

  7. LonzoBBBall

An unprotected pick swap is actually very valuable – risky move for the Mavs to give away such an asset for Grant Williams.

Alright how good of a player is “Multiple second-round picks”? Never heard of him

  9. BrianBurns58

That swap in 2030 might be sneaky good

Thankful to Grant. Wish him the best with the Mavs

I was fine with losing Grant…but only some 2nds seems pretty damn underwhelming

Are we allowed to have a good off seasons
    now? What is this?

  13. damn only second round picks, gonna miss grant

  14. Chadwiko

Genuinely going to miss Grant Williams on the Celtics.

Great guy and an under-rated player. Solid defender. Nice 3 point shot.

But happy he’s getting a chance to go get his 💰

SOMEONE GIVE ME NICO’S COOK BOOK BC THIS MAN IS MAKING STRAIGHT FIRE.

AS A MAVS FAN I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FEEL WITH COMPETENT FRONT OFFICE MOVES

Dallas been lowkey making nice moves, looong way to go but good offseason given the circumstances

  17. Kobi-WanKenobi

Mavs FO are actually making great offseason moves for once lol

  18. IMKudaimi123

    Rip Bullock

If mavericks can get Thybulle and dump McGee this has been a great offseason

  19. mainvolume

I think the Spurs had around 4000-5000 2nd round picks between now and 2030, so I’m guessing some got dumped off on Boston.

Wow, if something goes wrong in Dallas in the late ’20s it can be pretty bad.

The Nets already have their 2029 pick unprotected, and now the Spurs can swap 2030 with them.

If they’re bad for whatever reason, those are two straight years where they won’t even have their own draft pick.

EDIT: Also a great move for the Spurs getting that pick swap just for taking on one year of Reggie Bullock’s relatively cheap contract ($10.49M this season).

Dallas has had a great offseason so far. Super impressed.

Great trade for Dallas, getting exactly what they need

Teams want cheap talent. That’s why every year we see teams buy into the second round. It’s why we see trades with second round picks. Especially this past draft….so much talent in the second round and undrafted market. Can find and nuture and eventually have a rotation player on your squad for minimal cost, and second round picks can now be locked up for 4 years. Top 45 picks or so in some ways are being treated as de-facto first rounders but without the same structural guarantees. They have real value.

Celtics getting three seconds for a guy they weren’t gonna keep is huge, and Dallas bringing in a guy who’s become an elite corner shooter and seemed to really unlock something in the playoffs could go a very long way for them…if Grant can sustain that. The price isn’t gaudy. It’s not an ugly contract at all, very fair. Mavs basically spent a little more than MLE money and got Grant and could spend their actual MLE and get Thybullle too. That’s great business.

Luka/Kyrie/Thybulle/Williams/Powell isn’t a starting 5 that’s gonna make teams sweat but it is a starting 5 that has guys that fill roles well and fit well next to their stars. Mavs are making a lot more sense now.

Mavs really are having a great off-season, building depth now and adding young players, Luka and Kyrie might actually work out

Upset that we lost Grant but I’d rather get second round picks than lose him for nothing
