I heard someone say the other day: “The NBA GMs will shutdown the league if a supermaxed NBA Star holds out for 3 years”.

The NBA is a joke when it comes to this shit.

If we’re being completely honest, was lillard actually happy in Portland the last 3 years?🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

Tampering rules just don’t even exist at this point

I’ve been talking shit about Dame’s “loyalty” for years and he’s finally exposing himself as a fraud. Just been chasing the bag and now he wants to pick his team. Not too out of the ordinary, but his high horse the last 5 years has been annoying as hell

Funny how Dame always acted like he was above demanding out, but this is probably the lamest trade request yet

Unhappy player sounds like an improvement for us!

Dude would mope for a night and then if his team started winning you’d get a Haynes tweet about “Damian Lillard didn’t expect to end up in [city] but has learned to love the culture and spirit of his new home, and plans to remain fully committed to winning a title with the [team]”.

I don’t get the criticism here. Dame is 33 and wants to play with a guy who has carried his team to the finals twice in the last 3 years. People say stars shouldn’t be able to pick their next destination but why not? Why shouldn’t Dame have a preference? Why would Dame want to play in Philly where we haven’t been able to beat worse teams consistently and our best players tend to underperform? Also it’s not like Dame is Spurs Kahwi asking for a trade here. It’s not like Lillard doesn’t have a history of underperforming in big situations either. Flipping Harden for Dame is likely just a net neutral move. Sure Dame is a more consistent shooter than James now, but Harden was still the assist leader with 40% from 3. Losing his passing will hurt Embiid a lot and that’s a factor that I don’t think people are considering here.

Now if you can guarantee that you can keep Harden and both him and Dame would be happy all season? Sure, go all-in for this year with those two and Embiid. Worse case is you lose Maxey but Dame and Embiid still hold a ton of value for trading for assets anyway after this year if it’s another failed run.

Lol downvote all you want but nobody wants to say why. It’s because you all know Dame is being overrated deep down.

I really hope the blazers call his bluff and hold onto him at this point. Force him to sit out and get fined, don’t give in to trading him to the one place he’s willing to play that refuses to give up any good assets for him.

I can’t see a Miami team that trades for dame getting very far. They just lost strus and Vincent and will presumably lose herro and more just to get dame. Like a discount Suns house of cards

I can see dame pulling a harden to get to Miami. He will get fat and shot chunk until team fed up

The NBA has by far the biggest spoiled baby players of any sport

Kawhi situation was similar and he ended up playing in Toronto. Players other than Ben Simmons aren’t going to just sit out. I get Dame’s camp trying to force him to his preferred destination but doesn’t quite work when that team has one of the worst packages available to offer.

At least when AD wanted the Lakers they had some quality young players with potential and picks

How about this. If Lillard wanted to go to Miami, he can wait til he becomes a free agent. Otherwise, he should’ve demanded a no trade clause when he signed his new deal. This isn’t a charity. It’s terrible for sports and terrible for fans when non free agents can not only ask to be traded, but get to pick a specific team without a NTC. It’s a joke. And the only way this ends is when teams stop capitulating and start putting their foot down. Brooklyn did it last summer. Morey waited with Simmons. Even if it’s not to the Sixers, I hope Portland does what’s best for them. Because that’s good for the NBA and good for the fans.
