[Bobby Marks] Dallas put the bells and whistles on the offer sheet. ✅15% trade bonus ✅Player option in year 3 ✅$2.6M payable within 14 days of the contract approved ✅$2.6M payable on 10/1. The issue came with Dallas limited on what they could offer in a starting salary.

Lmao damn. Good for Thybulle, we helped him get a very nice deal

Its just good business by Dallas in regards to de-incentivizing POR to take the deal. POR made their decision, but I’m glad to see some solid common sense in the Mavs FO.

I’m happy with this tbh. What a terrible deal that would have been for us, but dude is getting paid!

Dang I’m actually glad we’re not stuck with that

Good that Portland matched this lol

Damn, we really did want him lol, I guess Portland has plans for him?

Honestly? Basketball-wise, it isn’t even that bad of a deal. Sure, the PO in year 3 is definitely not good and makes this pretty much a 2-years deal if Thybulle takes another step forward, but the trade kicker of 15% would increase his salary from 11M to, what, 12.7M? Not that huge of a jump, really, at least not one that would put a halt in any team’s ideas.

Now, the Blazers’ cash flow will suffer with that 5.2M unexpected withdraws, but this doesn’t affect any team cap-wise, so whatever. I would be quite OK if the Blazers did not match here.

Crazy. We are really lucky that they matched.

How are some of y’all pretending this is a bad poison pill deal and happy they matched lol? Basically a 2 year deal @ 11 mil considering the player option out and the 15% trade bonus quite literally doesn’t matter whatsoever. He was just All Defense he earned 10 mil a year

I don’t know why people are saying this is a horrible deal for Portland. It’s like one person said it and the rest decided to parrot it?

    10/1 payment is irrelevant.
3rd year player option really isn’t a big deal at all.
15% bonus is and extra… 2 mil if he’s traded? Lol.

It’s just icing. His contract is still very tradable if they decide to go that route in the future.

In cases like this with RFA you really have to include these clauses for a remote chance of not matching the offer
