Dame “won’t get paid” and will “waste his prime” sitting out.

  2. Zix_101

Glad Dame burned every bridge/bit of good will he had on his way out. I’m not even upset he’s leaving anymore

  3. rollingdown23

unless his agent or dame himself is saying this. I wouldn’t be taking any such reports seriously.

  4. BruceLeesSidepiece

I wouldn’t believe this report until someone more credible confirms it.

  5. geese1401

Dame, we all know this is a lie

But seriously.. You need to reign in these randos speaking on his behalf. They are tarnishing your name and legacy.

You’re starting to sound like Ben Simmons

  6. ohmygodbeats7

Yeah, I don’t see him passing up on all those millions of dollars and ruining his reparation.

Let’s test it to find out.

  7. zerocoolforschool

I bet it’s driving Dame nuts. You know he wants to go on IG and just start talking but I think his agent has told him not to talk publicly about the trade request.

  8. 1eyed_jack

It really is a masterclass in how to burn through 10 years of good faith in one off season

  9. Pdxduckman

Regardless of the truth to this report, I’m just done with Dame. Fuck him, he’s burned this bridge for me and I don’t care where he goes, or if we sit him until he is willing to be more reasonable in all of this.

  10. Cool and I guess we keep him until he changes his mind and

    *check notes*

    still continue to tank

  11. quazi_mofo

I’m calling that bluff all day. I agree this is probably some counter misdirection.

  12. sniz821

Still find it crazy it’s come to this when I was under the impression staying here was more important than winning

  13. UnifiedChungus666

Dame is trying to pull a Drexler: he’ll completely ignore the Blazers after he leaves. Either that or he’ll end up sitting out like John Wall.

  14. GoaheadAMAita

Remember if it didn’t come from his mouth

  15. VisitTheWind

If he’s actually saying this it’s the most unbelievable bluff of all time

Dame is just not a pussy ass bitch man he’s just not

He will play for any top contender

  16. Willing-Ad1362

I’m ok with guys demanding trades but when they take the deal and then try and negotiate the whole trade I’m out.

  17. honestqbe

This is total BS, clickbait, sourced from “a person familiar with Dame’s thought process.” Bad reporting, bad post.

  18. all4monty

This is really the dumbest bluff I have ever read. I am guessing that his agent is leaking this and Dame just told his agent to do what he needs to do to get him to Miami, but he is still employed by Dame. This is much different than a player threatening to sit if his team refuses to trade him. That is somewhat understandable. This is threatening to sit unless he goes to the exact team that he wants, after he willingly signed with the blazers through 2025. Imagine if a player came out in the draft and threatened to sit unless he is taken by one team. People’s heads would explode and the league would step in. This is worse than that because the hypothetical draftee never signed a contract.

  19. JengaKing12

Nothing says loyalty like forcing your way to one specific destination and making sure your old team gets fucked with a poo poo platter of garbage trade

  20. SpiderPidge

Here is my question: Why would anyone care? It’s not like he has EVER been the best player in the league. He has never even been the best point guard in the league. But he acts like he is Giannis or Jokic, Steph, or LeBron. He is just screwing himself out of playing if he actually does this. It’s like when Wall did it; Dame is a better player, but it’s still almost equivalent.

Go be a baby somewhere else.

  21. colinjkl

Do people really believe this BS clickbait?

  22. yougottafight94

He has really revealed himself as a clown as of late. Kind of glad he’s leaving.

  23. sportsthatguy

Heat fan here: do you think the front office promised Dame that they’d send him to the place of his choosing – if he ever asked out – because of his loyalty and that the front office is possibly walking back that ‘agreement?’

Again, just speculation on my end but seems like Dame has been very calculated in all of this as if this was the deal when he signed his extension.

Otherwise I’m not sure why he’d go scorched earth on ya’ll.

Also, as fans I’m sorry you have to deal with this. Never easy losing a franchise guy, especially this way. :/

  24. ReigNman_

He’s turned into such a clown. I’m tired of these pro athletes worth hundreds of millions throwing hissy fits when they don’t get their way. Like bro, people are just trying to put food on the table and keep the power on these days. No one cares about your bullshit, just play basketball.

  25. durmduke

The guy who noted that maybe there are other issues (potentially marital) going on in Dame’s personal life zeroed in on a good point. This whole saga is so out of character that there may be non-basketball reasons driving it.

  26. Dengahob

Same here like the great Batman quote from the greatest Batman ever Christian bale. “You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain”.

  27. opkpopfanboyv3

Threw out almost everything off the windows for that “Heat or retire” tour

  28. Mxrek_S_W

He obviously would – its just a tactic to scare off teams that aren’t miami.

  29. Briguy_fieri

This is not an Tony Davis situation. He has 3/4 years on his deal. There’s 0% chance he won’t report. He has a LOT of time and money left on his deal. Dame has no leverage here. Any GM should call that bluff 100% of the time.

  30. MR___SLAVE

At this point Portland needs to just tell him they aren’t trading unless it’s for a godfather package and he can sit out or retire if he doesn’t want to play.

  31. Sounds like a complete smokescreen from his camp and I’m not buying it. Imagine Dame sitting out an entire season cause he got traded to the Celtics lol.

  32. So you’re telling me if he was sent to the Celtics, the #2 team in the east, Dame would sit and pout about not going to the #1 heat?

Dame is a professional. He loves the game. I can not imagine a player who loves the game refusing to play on a stacked as hell team that would be the odd on favorites to win a ring.

I’ve never met Dame , but you don’t play in the NBA unless you love the game. I refuse to believe there is a single professional sports player who would refuse to play on a team that is favorite to win the freaking championship.

  33. MR___SLAVE

If true, I hope Dame enjoys watching a tank, because that’s what he’s going to be doing.

  34. odinlubumeta

It would be nice if the nba let players pick their team at some point in their careers. Poor Dame has never got to pick where he wanted to go, so it makes sense why he is only going to have a one team list/s

Seriously they have FA if you want to pick a team. Otherwise if you demand a trade you go wherever the team can get the most assets.

  35. 1ce9ine

I kind of get where he’s coming from. Even though players and Blazer fans recognize that he’s easily a top 10 talent in the League for whatever reason he doesn’t seem to command the same interest/respect from FOs. I’m sure he looked around at the league and thought teams would bend over backwards to add him to super team.

It sucks. He’s my favorite player but Pinwheel > everything.

  36. BreezyMcSleezy

Fine then he just won’t report and remain a blazer for 4 years until the heat cough up a good trade.

  37. tjn1126

its gotten so incredibly old. I don’t know why huge sections of this fanbase treat him almost like a make-a-wish kid.. he just signed a 200 mil extension that will pay him 60 odd million dollars when he’s 36. Cronin did the right thing not caving to pressure and skullfucking the future of this franchise from a talent perspective… just to chase the 3 seed and likely never get close to a title.

Dame is a legend and is my favorite Blazer ever, but I can’t wait to watch the new young guys and am excited at the future that’s in store.

  38. Prestigious_Lab7114

And I got downvoted for saying I would boo him at first, but eventually forgive him. I also got downvoted for saying I would not root for him to win a ring elsewhere.

    /shrug

  39. mrjdk83

So of the media takes should always be taken with a grain of salt.

  40. tristan_mayer

I feel like this is leaking out from his agent, he is doing EVERYTHING he can to get his client to the team he wants, which is his job.

When it’s all said and done, if Dame goes to a team other than the Heat, he will still play. He’s not going to sit out at this point in his career. Most teams that he could end up in are probably in a better position than we have been the last few years anyway.

  41. chiaestevez

Went from “I’d do anything for this city” to “I want to hold this franchise hostage and idgaf if it ruins my legacy” real quick.
