It was a lot of pouting all season long.
The thing is Kerr and the coaching staffs continually gave him opportunities even when he’s playing bad or pouting. No defense, terrible efficiency and TOs? No worries you’re still gonna be in the starting lineup in the 3rd qrtr! Donte playing well? Poole still ahead of him in the rotation
The vets, Kerr and org may have their mishaps but it’s ultimately JP’s attitude that made him easier to be a trade piece.

Poole played like shit this year. 13th worse +- net rating per 100 on the team. That’s hard to do in context. For example, Dray was +13 and Poole was -7

Kerr gave him a pretty long leash too until the end. Kerr has emphasized before about how having a culture and identity can easily disappear with egos in the mix. Gotta leave the ego at the door when you show up.
Said this a minute ago. Poole completely phoned it in. Whatever he becomes in DC was never going to happen in the Bay.

Not surprised, Kerr who gave him the longest of leashes never got anything good in return this season from Poole. Every positive of Jordan goes back to what he did in 2022

I appreciate the championship he helped us win. I’ll always be grateful for that.
That being said, this is a business and the sport overall is entertainment. I look at this season similar to the way I look at the next season of a tv show on netflix; moving on, grabbing my popcorn and ready to watch some new episodes of the latest story arc. 🍿
The thing is you literally have 3 guys on your team who are Hall of Fame players with 4 rings. You have a coach who has 9 rings. If you can’t listen to that leadership you’re doomed to fail everywhere. JP did not play the right way…
I feel like JP literally had a blueprint with the Steph plays to be successful in that system. All he had to do was follow that.
But he idolizes Kyrie more and could very much see that in his playstyle last season. Over dribbling instead of being more efficient. No defence at all
Kerr has said in the past his job is really managing egos and JP was flying high after being an integral part in a championship and securing his first big contract. He worked hard to get to where he got and you can’t really blame him for believing in himself to such a degree. I think we all expected great things and that is a hard fall from grace.
Kerr is ultimately the bad guy for putting him in his place, Steph has always been the good cop, and Dray couldn’t afford to get on him after he snapped with the punch.

I keep saying this, who on the Warriors is assigned to mentoring our players? Why do our youngster regress in year 2 and 3? Why even draft players if your not going to invest quality time in grooming and mentoring them? When was the last time a Warrior draft pick really became a key player on the team. Yes we have the core who have been with the team their entire career, all of those were groomed and mentored by Mark Jackson’s crew.
Kerr has been successful, and he wants veteran players, so why keep waiting everyone’s time by drafting, trade the picks and sign older players the fill in the open spots.
I could not be more happy that he is gone. He had turned toxic.
From Poole’s POV you can see why his attitude shifted after the championship. He gets punched by his own veteran teamate and basically nothing is done. You’re just coming off a championship which you played a big role in and basically removes the pressure to win another one for your own career. And we all know some players care more about chasing a bag/public image than winning like Kobe had said. I’m not saying Poole is simply a bag chaser but that championship probably allowed him to play for other motivations. It’s clear that he wanted a bigger role and I guess after that extension he thought he was going to get one. Nonetheless I wish him the best of luck in DC.

If you read into Kerr’s press quotes, you could sense Kerr was growing dissatisfied by Poole’s attitude. Whenever a reporter would ask about Moody or Kuminga’s frustration over their role, he’d say something like “*I expect them to be frustrated! They want to play.”*
He NEVER said that about Poole. He expected Poole to accept the role he had, but he didn’t.
The guy has a ring and he got his money. It’s amazing that he couldn’t get his attitude in line.
