* Keys to GSW's 2nd half turnaround:
1. Kerr switching from 1-2-2 zone to Box-and-1
2. Deploying Poole to attack Dame into foul trouble
3. Reduce empty possessions by attacking the paint and minimising turnovers
~ Box-and-1 negated Dame and reduced his impact. Without Dame and the injured Simmons, Portland had few other options and went on scoring droughts.
~ For those who were screaming at JP for dribbling too much, his part in sitting Dame was hardly talked about. No other Warrior had handles to take on Dame.
~ Portland had no rim protector, and scoring high percentage 2pt shots in the paint means they will consistently close the gap on every possession.
This is a game that showcased Kerr's maturity as a head coach who is now less dependant on his assistant coaches. Mike Brown used to make those defensive calls, now Kerr is making them himself.
What a pleasure to watch…like the Warriors of old. At least in the 3rd and 4th Q's…Movement, defense, inside, out…always working for the best shot. I like it.
