Every time the Spurs played a game last season, I would always hear the analysts say they are good offensively but just can't stop the opposing teams from scoring. So I think they do have the firepower for next season. Especially with Victor in the line-up now. It's also a plus that Victor looks promising on the defensive end.
We're gonna be an elite defensive team this coming season. That, combined with offense from Vassell and Branham (who struggled MIGHTILY last night), will make us win around 40 games.
As we said after the last game, it's just a matter of whether his shots are going in or not.
Two main reasons that he's definitely not a bust, he got a higher BBIQ than he demonstrated in Mets 92, and his maturity as he showed in those interviews, and his eagerness to improve is what might make him great.
However, I'm still gonna point out his biggest concern, which is definitely his finishing under contest, in both of those games we can clearly see he got into trouble when his opponents get physical, and he isn't strong enough to push back if he can't overpower players in SL, he's gonna have a lot of problems against even stronger opponents. You might say "But KD can outmaneuver those guys with speed and dribbling skills, plus his 2nd-floor release point", but the problem is Vic is not on KD's level in terms of shooting, agility, dribbling…etc.He got a higher core, you got to remember he's 7'3 barefoot, which makes his dribbling naturally less stable
compare to someone 6'10, and makes him less agile than most wings not to say guards, cause that's how physics work, even an Alien can't defy that.
My point is, he definitely needs more strength, since he's gonna face a lot of physical contests,
he probably will not be as muscular as David Robinson or anything like that, but if you remember Giannis was also skinny af while entering, and he puts on a lot of lean muscle and
turned into a physical beast now, even KD gets leaner over time, and that's what Victor needs to do despite a lot of people don't want him to bulk up for some reason, as bulking muscle is easy🙄
I still believe he won't necessarily be a KD-type of player, KD is an ISO player for the most part, he only learned team basketball after joining the Warriors. While on the Spurs, Victor is going to be more of a team player than KD will ever be, he doesn't need the ball in his hands all the time.
The one thing I like is the Spurs really decrease his handling, he doesn't need the ball as
much as when he's back in France, and that increases his efficiency a great deal.
Instead of a KD, it's better to make him learn to play like AD first, who doesn't require lots
of usage, and still be impactable on both ends of the floor.

I honestly think, given his skillset, he is probably the most likely NBA player to have a quadruple double, (points, rebounds, assists, blocks). Insane.

Honestly, Blake’s aggression is incredible to see. He absolutely gambles on defense and yet he’s so quick that he recovers decently. In transition, he loves to push the tempo (sometimes more than anyone on our team can even keep up with 😂). I am so excited to see how he develops and I hope we keep him around. That boy a dog.

I know the common "answer" to guard Wemby is putting a wing on Wemby to really press up on him.. but who's guarding Jeremy or Devin while that is happening? Wemby's passing is only going to look better with the real roster. The spacing is going to look crazy I'm real games
If cidy can develop a solid corner 3 he can be a Shane battier/Bruce Bowen type with Diaw potential playmaking, he can easily start earning minutes.

I think Keldon Johnson's scoring comes more from his brawn than his finesse. It seems he has to work hard for his points. He's not what you would consider a smooth scorer, and the Spurs have other players who better fit that description.

We pissed With two of his early possessions where he brought the ball down low right under the basket it got stripped both times. How does he not know to keep the ball high. But after that early moment, he shut me up the rest of the game. I’m happy now.
And… his NBA journey officially began… As a Parisian I had the chance to watch him play live twice last year (once in the playoffs), he’s so unique… So talented and so graceful on the court… But also so aware of his current weaknesses so he’s always able to adjust to the opposition… No team was able to shut him down twice because of that, he always finds a way… That’s just basketball IQ and awareness, you can’t teach that… That’s why we (in France) were so shocked by the « bust » comments… So unfair and untrue. Of course he struggled in the first game everybody saw that but the game is so different here we knew it would take time for him to feel comfortable… That being said I saw him a bit more off-balance in these 2 games than I saw him for the whole season in French ProA. He needs to develop his quadriceps and lower muscles, once he does that, even without putting weight he’ll dominate… Please take care of our boy America. Cheers! ❤
