Detroit Pistons enter Damian Lillard trade talks. How could this impact Nets acquiring Tyler Herro?

With a day between Summer League action for the Brooklyn Nets, the Locked on Nets guys look at reports that Detroit might have entered the fray when it comes to the Damian Lillard trade. Could the Pistons be a facilitator for getting Damian Lillard to the Miami Heat? And if that were the case, could they make things easier for the Nets possibly acquiring Tyler Herro?

There’s a discussion about whether this should still be in the Nets’ best interest and whether this trade is going to happen at all. This is still very much the hottest topic in the off-season and Brooklyn remains close to the situation where all parties are concerned.

  1. Hello everyone. Honestly looking at other third team options Detroit San Antonio and the Jazz could all be possible choices.

However Brooklyn has the one thing these teams lack which is good first round draft picks. The Suns 2025 first round draft pick or the Mavs 2027 first round draft pick could be valuable currency for Portland if Brooklyn was a part of the three team deal….

At the end of the day Tyler Herro is the type of young versatile scorer that would greatly compliment our defensive core of Mikal Bridges Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton 🔥..

  2. What is possible is this can be a four team deal where teams like Detroit San Antonio or Utah can acquire a player from Miami Portland or Brooklyn as an outgoing salary piece ( ex: Duncan Robinson Royce o Neale or Jusuf Nurkic).

Just based off of what's on the table Portland would want Miami to take back Jusuf Nurkic along with Lillard. Portland meanwhile looks like they will get a combination of Kyle Lowry/Duncan Robinson, Nikola Jovic and either Royce o Neale or Spencer dinwiddie ( Ben Simmons contract situation makes it highly unlikely he will be sent out in any deal).

Brooklyn meanwhile wants Tyler Herro and has tried to bargain their way to getting extra assets on top. While draft picks look unlikely possibly getting a solid role player back in Caleb Martin would be a beneficial addition to Brooklyn's bench.

Those are the players likely to be involved in any multi team deal configuration here..

  3. What's probably keeping this trade from happening is the negotiating process on what first round draft picks will be sent to Portland. Miami only has about two first round draft picks and a possible swap to offer. Brooklyn's array of first round draft picks could be very valuable currency and could be the deciding factor in this trade being completed….

  4. Didn’t a report just come out that Portland is willing to wait months to trade Lillard?

I feel Marks has somehow put together last year Toronto team. A lengthy but undersized bunch that played scrappy defense but ultimately went 41-41 and were 9th in the East because their offense wasn’t good enough. So far what are the Nets their roster looks pretty similar. Length at the wings but lacks legit size. Lack of consistent shot creation.

A guy like Tyler Herro would give them some shot at relevancy.

  5. Adding Tyler Herro would disrupt the good chemistry the roster began when they came together this past season. I don't think the Nets are going to make any trades involving losing any of our main rotation players of Dinwiddie, Bridges, Claxton, DFS, O'Neale, and Cam Johnson. Besides, the game plan seem to be to "run it back," and if thinks don't work out, we'll have a significant amount of expiring contracts to increase our cap space to acquire new players.
