Will Miami Heat’s Trade for Damian Lillard Really Take “Months”?

Blazers GM Joe Cronin said that a Damian Lillard trade could take months to complete in order to get the return from the Miami Heat that he’s looking for.

Wes Goldberg and David Ramil break down Cronin’s comments and discuss how long a Lillard trade could realistically take. Then they look at some of the Summer League standouts that could earn a two-way contract with the Heat.

  1. I dont think the heat wants this deal takes a month before the deal done because free agency market is getting dry also…
I believe this week will get the deal done🔥
So i'm so excited for Dame and Ben Simons to the heat soon! 🔥

  2. When you look at how Philly got rid of Simmons, It makes perfect sense for Portland to wait for a better deal. Even if it means keeping him on the roster to start the season.

  3. Man I love Dame…. But if I were the Heat & no feelings were involved with Jimmy wanting Dame… I would offer a similar trade package for Siakam: Taller, plays some defense, younger & still fits with Jimmy and Bam.

  4. I think the read on this is slightly off. Cronin knows he doesn't have leverage over Miami – he basically acknowledges as much. He's trying to exert leverage against Dame. His biggest problem is the lack of competing offers, so he's looking for a way for Dame to expand his list to another team.

  5. Wes got a great point: POR better make sure they not in there feelings in this situation do to the corner they was pushed in. They need to ACCEPT there position & make the best of it

  6. This is the exact same conversation that everyone had about James Harden and Darryl Morey. Joe absolutely can and should wait (for months, even if they have to). A substantially better deal absolutely could become available by the trade deadline and The Blazers FO is suuuuper shady as we have seen with all the lying they have done with Dame and the fan base about "building a winner around Dame". So I am not putting it past them to even trade Dame to a completely different team 4 weeks into the season. Anything is possibbbllllllleeeee! LOL

  7. Riley needs to go all in, right now. This may be his best chance to get Dame before it's too late…

  8. "Hes a hater of Dame to miami , he wants more parity in the east" by sending him to another team in the east thats already got a big 3. Like Boston or NY. That is what i would call intelectual dishonesty

  9. Tyler Herro is not worth 2 1st or even an 1sts and two 2nds, It should cost The Nets no more than a Late First to get him, if it cost more Sean Marks should walk away.

  10. Dame is under contract for 4 years. That's a big effing chip that portland has. Portland also doesnt give a shit if they lose. Come on guys, let's at least attempt some journalistic integrity rather than spinning talking points

  11. As a blazer fan I can tell you. Cronin will never face reality. It will take him getting fired before the blazers will make any moves

  12. for those who are saying that he wont play, ya must be the one who thought he would never ask get traded

  13. You guys have absolutely no understand of Portland's perspective at all. Portland will and should do what's best from them not Dame

No other team is making an offer because Dame made his request after teams had already started their free agency offers and after the draft. So a lot of players can't even be traded until December 15th.

More & better offers will materialize after Dec 15 and/or closer to the trading deadline.

It's ridiculous these guys don't know or didn't mention this fact as to why more teams aren't or can't make offers for Dame and that Dame and his agent's strategy to get to Miami only was exactly this

  14. As someone who has no horse in this race, the Heat aren't in the position of power here. It's obvious they don't have assets so they have to find some from somewhere. Heat will have to meet the DAMEands, not the other way around.

  15. That Wes dude is SALIVATING for Dame 😆 Heat are the ones calling for Dame buddy

  16. that last press conference was the Blazers GM looking for a shoulder to cry on. The big whiney baby presser.

  17. Dame has no no-trade clause so Blazer will wait until they get the best possible offer for him. They don’t need to rush. It’s still 3 months until training camp.

  18. 2 first round picks for Herro 😂… I could see a late first, possibly the Nets Suns 2025 pick but absolutely no more than that. The Nets could make a much better offer than Miami and end up getting Dame themselves. It doesn’t appear they are interested in Dame but who knows for sure. And they are not going to do Miami any favors by helping get Dame to Miami by giving 2 first round picks for Herro, the amount of picks total Miami is giving up for Dame. No chance at all. If you are giving up that much might as well go all in for Dame at that point.

  19. Dame averaged 32 points and 7 assists last year! He was the 8th most efficient player in the whole NBA. In Real plus-minus he was +7.08.

He is a Very valuable player!
