Could Pascal Siakam or Clint Capela be the Dallas Mavericks Next Trade Target? | Mavs Podcast

The Dallas Mavericks have 1 more trade in them, could the Mavs trade for Pascal Siakam or get in as the 3rd Team in a trade for Clint Capela? What does that mean for Dereck Lively II?

Nick Angstadt & Isaac Harris discuss the NBA Trade Rumors around Pascal Siakam and if the Dallas Mavericks could trade for him or Clint Capela as a 3rd Team. What are some trades for Pascal Siakam? Should the Mavs give up a Future 1st Round Pick for Clint Capela? Then, how would a trade for a center affect Dereck Lively II? Should the Mavs just start D-Live from the start?

  1. Everything is relative, Cappella would be great with the right exchange. Pretty sure I'm in the minority here, but I'd rather see a tall defensive SF/PF than a center for now. Kinda just curious to see the Holmes chemistry first, then hunt for a stop-gap center before the deadline accordingly

  2. with capela i see the mavs top 4 in the west. With the current roster, no capela, i see the mavs 6/7 seed in the west with a good season

  3. The package could look like this:

    Mavericks Acquired:
    SF/PF Grant Williams (S&T)
    C/PF Clint Capela

    Hawks Acquired:
    PF/C Pascal Siakam
    SG/SF Tim Hardaway Jr
    2025 2nd (via Dallas)
    2030 2nd (via Dallas)

    Raptors Acquired:
    SF/PF DeAndre Hunter
    2024 1st (via Sacramento)
    2024 1st (via Atlanta)

    Celtics Acquired:
    2 2nds
    TPE

  4. So far I think they need to see how Holmes play with Luka and Kyrie. Then after that, probably make a move on the trade deadline.

For me, it's more important to trade for Forward position and that is PJ Washington.

  5. Luka needs a big scrappy physical interior player like zubac. If take him over old ass Capella and overrated Miles Turner any day

  6. These dudes really don't like Kyrie. His shoes sold because of him. There's a reason he was one of the top selling Nike shoes

  7. if we sign Capela, yeah i can see Lively in the G league a good amount this year. But if not, hell no. It makes no sense not to play him rotation minutes.

  8. Only players worth trading the 1st round pick for Turner,Allen,Ayton.
I prefer no more trades let’s see how Holmes looks then see where we need to improve at the trade deadline.

  9. Just wanted to say this. The warriors don’t have anyone on their roster other than like 1 guy who is above 6’9. I wouldn’t cut Magee yet. He could be a tradable asset at the trade deadline. Otherwise he’s just going to go back to the warriors as soon as we release him. Book it.

  10. The reason I feel like the Mavs have always loved starting Powell is because they often run the first offensive play through him on a pick and roll. If Lively can't set a proper screen right now they may use that as a reason to keep him as a bench player alone.

  11. Trade Powell, THJ and Kleber, get some good ring protector, develop rookies. Otherwise, no playoff next year.

  12. Before we touch our best three assets (Green, Hardy, 1st), we must wait a half season to see what we got here. Does not make sense to use up everything we have before knowing that our core works. Otherwise we would not have a way out if we found that Luka + Kyrie with defensive wings isn’t it.

  13. Agree with Isaac. I'm done trading for stars on expiring contracts, esp not if it means giving up our few prospects. I'd rather spend less on a competent center with at least a year more of control.
