Pelicans reporter on the hoop collective today said that their discussion of the #3 pick was picks based, not Zion based so….
And it’s been reported that Cronin told Dame 3 days before the draft they weren’t trading the pick so something doesn’t add up.

Oh boy, I can tell this is going to take on a life of its own. “Masai wouldn’t trade Siakam for Scoot” is gonna be such a thing. I don’t believe it at all, though. Too many conflicting reports, and the fact that the Blazers made no trades with anybody and were not seemingly *close* to a trade with anybody tells me that they were always gonna make that pick.
EDIT: Even this Lowe article speculates that the Blazers wouldn’t have traded 3 for Siakam anyway.

Portland made their decision clear to keep scoot with their 3 pick from a while ago
Otherwise dame would not be so set on leaving the decision was already made a long time ago
Anything else is revisionist history going on right now

I don’t believe this for a second

basically our FO is always evaluating unless they see an offer too good to pass up. As such, I doubt the #2 or #3 pick were ever offered for Siakam or OG.

portland wasn’t trading away scoot. these discussion were likely centred around simons (salary matching) or other players. NOT SCOOT.

There is no mention of #3 pick ever being offered or on the table for Pascal/OG.

But they’re ready now to trade Siakam? Doesn’t make sense.

Not trading OG for the third pick and not increasing OGs role is hilarious. If this is true Masai trippin

This is really impressive reporting 2 weeks after the draft where none of them got traded.

This is straight up misleading tweet. It is aggregated from a Lowe report on ESPN. That report never states that the Blazers offered the 3rd pick to Raptors or New Orleans. In fact – the article starts like this:
” The Blazers’ front office was sincere in its belief it could straddle two paths — take Henderson, and work trades and free agency to build a competitive team around Lillard. ”
This clearly indicates that whatever the Blazers were offering, it was not the 3rd pick.

And now Masai is…what a colossal failure
