Blazers Creating Noise Around Miami Heat’s Pursuit of Damian Lillard. Plus NBA Offseason Emmys

The Miami Heat and Portland Trail Blazers appear to be at an impasse when it comes to Damian Lillard, but Pelicans general manager David Griffin says the best thing for the Blazers is to get more teams involved and “for the noise to be as loud as possible.”

Wes Goldberg and David Ramil ask if Portland can really get more teams involved to drive up the price for Lillard. Then they discuss teams that could trade for Tyler Herro and reveal their NBA offseason Emmy awards.

  1. It would set a terrible precedent if any superstar like Dame can now sign a multi-year super max contract extension, and then simply demand a trade to one specific destination while insisting that his previous team take very little in compensation, all without bothering to get a no-trade clause in his contract. It could essentially wipe out the viability of small-market teams like the Blazers. If NBA management were smart, they’d step in to put a stop to this

  2. The thing as a blazers fan is its in the blazers best interest to keep Dame until the trade deadline even if he sits out. All it takes is 1 more team to jump in between now and then and you get more. Because if you're miami and the trade deadline is here and you're struggling even a little and you don't make that trade happen that's gonna be bad. Portland is gonna tank anyway so they don't really have much to lose but miami does and defiantly will then. Also if herro is such a great player this wouldn't be such a struggle because maimi could make it a 3 team deal and get assets from another team for herro. The fact that just isn't happening should tell miami fans that he's not worth as much as you think, seeing as how 28 other teams won't give up value for him

  3. Which is better Christian Woods(Can play solid Defense Also Offense) or Damian Lillard which is a lethal Shooter/ scorer however no defense

  4. I feel like AD is like a micro mandella effect. When was the last time he got called 'unibrow'? That was probably the last time he was considered a top 5 player

  5. I think it’s in league and Miami and Portland best interest to get this deal done, as long as Miami doesn’t give up core or Caleb Martin the blazers should get whatever they want!! This is not fantasy leagues where screwing others in trades are a good thing.. I think LA did just fine in that trade for AD won a title because of it

  6. The "if it takes months" is literally a month as the Heat are just waiting to be able to include Jaquez in the package. Jaquez and Jovic will be great additions to what Portland is envisioning for their franchise.

Dame in Miami is a match made in basketball heaven.

  7. All noise still only Heat ! Different player different deals not same. Dame said heat ! This is bad for the Portland always good for the team. They have Dame last time so is that not good enough ?duh😮

  8. I mean Portland has Dame and his contract, so they have the leverage. Alternative to negotiated agreement.

    I just don’t trust Cronin.

  9. If Dame wanted to play in Miami so bad… He shouldn't have signed an extension… That's how you get out of town… I don't blame Portland for not rushing a trade… Miami is the Desperate team in this situation, with a 34 year old Jimmy

  10. Miami only benefits the longer it goes. He just gets older, and god help Portland if lillard has to be toxic in camp.

  11. You explain why a Tyler Herro trade makes no sense for Brooklyn, we have no point guard. So why would we trade Spencer Dinwiddie granted he’s more of a 2 than a 1 but he’s our 1 for now, trading him for another non point guard who cost more makes no sense.

I believe there was earlier noise surrounding Herro to Brooklyn but like Jake Fisher said Utah seems to be Herro landing spot, also our GM Sean Marks has been talking a lot about flexibility.Taking on a 4 year contract is the opposite of that.

  12. If i am the heat,, i'd rather go for Zack Lavine and sign Christian Wood and Pj Washington than sending the house for that Dame thing!🔥

  13. what did you expert from those Portland flakes? Get the hell outa there Dame! Still plenty time for summer on the beach babyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! Lessss go

  14. Let Miami continue and fuck around with us and come trade deadline when they are a 7 seed and we are a 4th seed with our Loyal Lilllard; we will offer them a couple firsts for Jimmy Butler. He is under contract for 4 years and aint going nowhere for your suck a dick offer

  15. Damian Lillard have to be saved from himself. The Trailblazers GM should tell him that he's under contract and gamble whether he'll show up when the season began. I think he will show up and play for the only franchise he's ever played for.

  16. Until Portland tanked last year; their record was on the same level as Miami's. Add Scoot, Murray, and a free agent big; we are the better team with Dame than Miami without. I say call their bluff and send them an offer for Butler when trade deadline hits. Miami holds no leverage and Portland's front office needs to show some balls and call them on the disrespect. Everyone says Portland ain't winning anyways so big loss if we keep Dame while his value rises above their bullshit offer

  17. The universe has already planned on Dame being flipped to the Heat: If you filp Portland's area code (503), you get Miami's area code (305)!!!😁

  18. In a perfect world, Lillard would report to Blazers training camp ready to earn his contract. Lillard requesting a trade is him not fulfilling his contract. He can have a change of heart after signing his final supermax contract. He can't say there was a change other than his own priorities.

Blazers don't have to trade Lillard. They probably will, but they aren't in any hurry. More likely, no trade will happen unless Lillard and his agent find a team that is willing to sell out their future to satisfy the Blazers.

Regardless of what Lillard wants, his contract requires him to report to Blazers ready to play.

  19. No that's a dumb idea for him to put another team on the list publicly. Think about what you're saying man. These negotiations are happening publicly. It is the public that's doing the negotiating. You don't want to give the negotiators another team dude.
