Dan is very close with the organization, so this is 100% coming from Riley. Cronin can do whatever he wants, but The Heat aren’t going to play panic with Portland. I get everyone is angry at Lillard, but that doesn’t change the logic that Miami has the best offer so far.

Those are the EXACT same type of rants Jazz fans had to listen to by NYK media and fans last year when the Mitchell thing was going on. “Show us someone better than RJ Barrett you can get from anyone else”, “Show us the better offer you can get from another team?”… “We have all the leverage, noone can come close to our offer”….
I would STRONGLY advise Miami Heat fans and media, and especially their FO to abstain from making that mistake. The moment you think you are the only one bidding and the only serious contender for Lillard, is the moment someone else will swoop in and steal him from you. First because Portland will be sick of dealing with your BS and second… because your offer is not all that great. The Jazz can give Portland an offer better than yours and still be left with enough picks to go after one or two more stars… that is if they really want to go that way… and we are by no means special. There are probably about 25 teams in the league that can beat Miami’s current offer. And it only takes one to say to themselves “Fuck it… lets go for it”…
