#It’s over! Cleveland is a city of champions once again!
Mobley, Merrill, and Bates were awesome all throughout Summer League. Bates especially got better every game. I think Mobley and Merill have an outside chance of turning into NBA role players. They look better than your average back half of the 2nd round type guys. Obviously being older plays into that.
And Bates is clearly waaaay more talented than your average 49th pick. I don’t know how much, if any, NBA time he sees this year, but considering how he and the coaching staff approached this Summer League, it gives me some hope that in the G-League this year he might develop the skills that could get him into the NBA. His defense the past few weeks was significantly better than anything he showed in college. If he can just be passable on that end in the NBA, he could have a real career. A 6-9 wing that can dribble, create his own shot, and shoot threes at a high volume is a premium archetype in the modern NBA, and one that the Cavs do not currently have on their roster. The chance of him turning into something is low, but the potential is definitely there.

This team was weirdly well coached and the pieces fit well together for a Summer League team.
Isaiah Mobley as a point forward/center has been a cheat code the entire summer league. his shooting stats weren’t great but i can’t imagine a better all around player in the tournament.
Merrill stepping to the left is a god. i don’t see how he cannot be on the court in the nba as a 3p specialist. shoutout to the espn squad recommending we add him to the roster not realizing he’s on an nba contract
We drafted KPJ on his talent and cut ties when we needed to. glad to be the next team to draft a character concern player who drops far because there’s no fucking way Emoni Bates scoring talent wasn’t recognized by scouts
First of three rings this season. Mid season tourney is next. Then we’re gonna finish it off with the Larry O’Brien.

I know it’s been said a lot, but Bates feels like such a steal no matter what happens with him. Just worth the risk with a pick in the middle of the 2nd round.

Mobley looked great tonight. Bates has scoring ability but needs more work on passing and assists.
Sam Merrill and Craig Porter Jr both looked very nice as well! It might be summer league but it’s nice to have hope.

Best part is a lot of these guys should stick with the team one way or another – (G-league, two-ways, Stash). The team fit together like glue and was really selfless. Emoni Bates was a huge part of it too, I’m really happy for a good introduction for him

I have a dream that Bates becomes the new age version of JR off of the bench for us. He’s not as athletic, but his shooting profile and overall offensive game remind me of cavs era jr so much. Just High level shot making. Definitely worth the gamble by Kobe
