Joe Mazzulla’s job was always safe, Boston Celtics now fully bought into Mazzulla ball

Despite what some people thought, Joe Mazzulla’s job was never really in jeopardy with the Celtics. Brad Stevens not only never considered firing Mazzulla, he’s now fully bought in — moving guys who just no longer fit with Mazzulla and bringing in a player to give Mazzulla new options. John Karalis of Boston Sports Journal breaks it all down, and gets into why this could be a year that changes people’s minds.

  1. I was somewhat skeptical at times of Mazzulla’s decision making, but I also realize that he was a rookie head coach put into a late situation with multiple coaches leaving throughout the time period. We’ll see how it works out, but I’m here for giving him more time with good coaches around him and hopefully he succeeds.

  2. We’ll see what this season brings. I think the organization has Joe on a short leash. They like him and have confidence in him, but if he doesn’t deliver & these guys don’t completely buy in to “what he’s selling”, I don’t see them bringing him back in 2024-25. I’m still torn on him personally. He’s got work to do.

  3. Coach Joe got the Celtics to the Eastern Conference Finals his first year. That was a good showing for a rookie coach. Hopefully with the new coaching staff and some new players, the Celtics may have a chance at winning it all.
