Hey everyone! This is Michael Martin from the Thunder Buddies podcast. I just wanted to put this podcast out on the timeline for everyone. I thought this pod came out really well and had a ton of historical context for Chet.
We all have very different expectations for Chet going into this season and I decided to do a deep dive with tons of research! I compared Chet’s physical measurements to 16 different 6’9 or taller power forwards/centers drafted in the top 5 since 2013.
I also averaged out PER 36 stats of all these players to give a rough estimate of what Thunder fans could expect from Chet in his first season in a Thunder uniform. How many of the 16 ended up as All-NBA players, All Stars and more.
We also went into some deep cuts discussing different NBA players who missed their rookie season due to injury, how many games on average they played in their first year back, their average minutes and how relatively healthy those guys have stayed/been since their rookie season on the bench.
