A team that spoke with Portland said it's skeptical that the Blazers actually want to trade him (at least yet). PERHAPS the end qame is to get Lillard to report to camp and play for them, unless he makes it really messy. https://t.co/4VVOvdEm9M

Wow… Team doesn’t want to trade their star player! What a bold take!
Why should Portland appear desperate to trade an asset when the market is under valuing the asset? Its so irritating how Miami lowballing and stalling negotiations with bad faith offers gets praised, but Portland ignoring bad faith offers, like they should (Outside of proposing equally ridiculous trades), gets clowned on. Cronin doing whats best for his franchise is somehow a bad move, but Miami doing whats best for their franchise is a smart move.
From a week ago:
“As of midweek, Portland had been unmotivated to engage with Heat or try to get this done. Maybe they hope this plays out like Durant last summer & they cajole him to start season with team. If so, then it’s in Dame’s hands, whether he reports to camp, makes public comment etc”
He’s just saying the exact same thing, including his own made up guesses about motivation covered by a “perhaps” or a “maybe.” It’s not news. It’s not new. It’s just to get clicks.
Of course Miami wants Dame to make a fuss. It helps them. That’s the only reason this narrative is being pushed by specific “reporters” right now.
All this tells me is that Cronin being patient and waiting for the them to stop sandbagging is working
The Heat aren’t stupid, they know what it costs to trade for a star player
Keep waiting Joe.
