Harden on Lillard/player empowerment: “I wouldn’t want an org to send someone somewhere they wouldn’t want to be bc you’ve built a real relationship w/ that person. He has done so many great things for your franchise. But then you don’t want to give away that player for nothing. I get both sides.”

But Heat fans said that if Portland doesn’t deal Dame to them for pennies then every NBA player would hate the franchise and refuse to sign with them in free agency.

i didnt expect to hear hardens take on this

  3. awntawn

Because I went through it. In the past. Once upon a time. It has happened. At a certain point in time before the present.

Stop holding Dame hostage. He deserves to go to the Heat.

  5. Darthron911

Holy shit, James Harden made a little sense.

  6. brittanyelyse

The sixers would take a ton of picks, like 5 firsts, and then trade, but they want someone who will slide right into his spot, if trade for someone else who can. But the sixers also shouldn’t give him Away for nothing

  7. Mysterious_Emotion63

James Harden commenting on this while in the middle of doing the same thing is pure comedy

  8. GooseMay0

Well at least he can see it from both sides.

  9. Doc__Toboggan

I really hope Harden isn’t comparing his situation to Dame because Harden has done fuck all for our franchise except get rid of Ben

  10. bobbyskittles

Is James harden not the Barbie of basketball?

Ngl I’ve never really watched Harden interviews until now.

Dude is pretty well-spoken and reasonable. I don’t know why I’m as surprised as I am, I guess I just thought that a guy who switches teams like he has had to be kind of an idiot.

Makes me think the Nets were even more of a clusterfuck than I thought.

These GM’s and Owners have huge egos. Honestly, if y’all truly don’t think at least half the front offices in the league feel like they could convince Dame to play for their team you’re trippin.

This is incredibly balanced and fair. Harden probably relates the most thanks to his time in Houston.

And most Rockets fans still absolutely love Harden because we could see where the team was going and that the Westbrook trade ended our run.

If I was a Sixers fan, I would be mad though. With a real coach finally this year, there’s no reason they can’t come out of the East (I think Doc Rivers is an incredibly bad overall gameplay philosophy coach. The spacing and offense the Sixers ran was so poor compared to other NBA teams).

    acting like Dame was volunteering

  15. _milf_cheek_clapper_

Got no problem with that take. It’s balanced. Anyway Harden gets way more hate than he deserves

  16. Exius73

Send Harden to Portland to play with Dame then

  17. Aloha1984

Why not make contracts with a mutually void contract clause?

  18. Giffordpinchotpark

I’ve never heard Harden speak before, I wouldn’t have known who he was if I hadn’t seen who was talking.

  19. No-Wave1939

I get both sides too, but I also think that if you have a contract then you have an obligation to fulfill it.

Not sending someone somewhere where they don’t want to be is one thing. Issue is, when the dude only has ONE destination he wants to be.

  21. JarekBloodDragon

This is the take most Portland fans have btw. The angry ones are just very loud. We don’t blame dame in the least, we also don’t want to throw our future away. Wish dame the best, but we’re not suddenly fans of his next team. We’re still portland fans.

  22. aiirxgeordan

Ofc he’d say that. I disagree, I’m just supposed to fuck my franchise cuz he scored a few points. Not like he did anything significant for them. They made it to the conference finals once and now they’re supposed to take the shittiest deal available because that’s where he wants to go? I don’t think so
