Recency bias. Luka took a worse team to the conference finals not that long ago. They were 5/6 games back from 4th in the West last season with luka and Kyrie both injured

1:52 – "They both are scorers and nothing else"? Luka is amongst the most gifted passers in the NBA, and Kyrie is no slouch at making plays for others either. Luka is also a really good rebounder. The offense will work fine, but the defense, especially in a playoff series is still questionable. However in 2021-22 the Mavs put up a defensive rating that rabked them 7th, and that was with Luka and Brunson in the backcourt, and if they could do it, it can also be done with Luka and Kyrie.
I don't think the Mavericks as currently constructed can win it all, but I do think they can and will eventually win one with Luka and Kyrie. Just give Luka a little more competitive roster and it's over.
