>ESPN vice president of production Tim Corrigan — the lead NBA producer — likely had a hand in the choice of whether it was going to be Van Gundy or Jackson for the chopping block. That’s not 100 percent, but it’s informed speculation and in keeping with how ESPN does things.
>Jackson’s unusual bond with Corrigan has likely saved him yet again, in a circumstance where he would have logically been under threat.
>The sports media scene rumor is that Doc Rivers could be a possibility on game broadcasts, in part because he’s making so much off a yet-to-expire coaching contract. If Rivers can be had for a psalm, you can keep the three-man booth together while saving money.
Strauss who worked at ESPN back then said ESPN killed unfavorable Mark Jackson stories after his hiring in 2014.

Mama there goes that man
Rivers and Jackson? Thank god for the mute button!
Jeff probably gets out of character too often for Disney.
Behind the scenes guy has posters of Savannah James in his bathroom too
Is this guy the [Jon Peters](https://www.slashfilm.com/981625/neil-gaiman-leaked-really-stupid-sandman-script-from-jon-peters-which-featured-giant-mechanical-spiders/) of ESPN?
Doc would be a solid addition. He’s light years ahead of Mark Jackson, Doris, and the Canadian clown who says corny shit.
>That’s not 100 percent, but it’s informed speculation and in keeping with how ESPN does things.
Hmm…I’m not sure I’d be peddling rumors if i wasn’t sure.
Ethan Strauss isn’t good for much but he always seems to be good for nasty behind the scenes rumors about people who fired him.
“What’re you, gay?” – Mark Jackson reacting to this
Probably a lot of religious folks at ESPN
Informed speculation. Lol. My informed speculation is one probably makes twice as much as the other.
Tim Corrigan and Mark prob go to the same church
Doesn’t surprise me at all. Based on the stories from Mark Jackson’s time as the Warrior’s head coach he seems like the type of person who will inveigle himself with important people.
Those 2 bounced off each other. They’re NBA finals tradition practically. Might as well have laid off both of them if you’re getting rid of one. Get Richard Jefferson in there with a new guy. Don’t shove a new guy to pair with Mark Jackson.
It sort of reminds me of the time when I was younger, maybe junior high, I got roped into watching my 3 month old niece while my sister got her hair done at the salon. SO there i am, sitting in the waiting area of a hair salon with my niece, and who walks in, but Mark Jackson. I was nervous as fuck, and just kept looking at him, as he read a magazine and waited, but didn’t know what to say. Pretty soon though my niece started crying, and I’m trying to quiet her down because I didn’t want her to bother Mark, but she wouldn’t stop. Pretty soon he gets up and walks over. He started running his hands through her hair and asking what was wrong. I replied that she was probably hungry or something. So, Mark put down his magazine, picked up my niece and lifted his shirt. He breast fed her right there in the middle of a hair salon. Chill guy, really nice about it.
being well-liked at your place of work is more important than being good at your job.
It’s ESPN so there’s always a race element at play
Can we say that?
Guessing this is the same knucklehead who got rid of the classic NBA on ESPN/ABC theme song for the new garbage one?
Is “for a psalm” an intentional twist of the idiom “for a song”?
once mark jackson dips your ankle in oil the two of you are bonded forever
He was probaley getting paid more and was one of the higher paid employees. I dont think its that deep
Mark Jackson and Doc Rivers are the same guy. Former Knicks point guards who became overrated head coaches. Can’t have both on the same broadcast team.
Van Gundy goes on stupid rants that make no sense and literally spends minutes at a time not saying a word. I wish both would have been let go but if it had to be one then I’m glad it was Jeff. Momma, there goes that man.
ya then fire this mysterious producer who favors nepotism over the quality of the product. bob iger where you at.
Come on say the real reason…
Ohh it will be glorious.
One that spews stupidities and one that can’t even talk.
Mark Jackson is an awful commentator.
The talking heads always change but the people that hire and fire them don’t.
The behind the scenes execs will keep making the same mistakes over and over. Why TNT will always be a superior product.
He knows how to play the game.
Remember when he divided the locker room.
He is wicked but it works just take a look here.
More Mark Jackson hate about to amplify to levels never seen before.
[y’all really want to get rid of this?](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=eOtZ7eXwT7o&pp=ygUeTWFyayBqYWNrc29uIGNvbW1lbnRzcnkgcGFyb2R5)
Worst firing in recent (?) sport caster firing history. Only guy that made sense sitting next to Breen. Only guy that actually made sense.
Mark Jackson sucks
*song, not psalm
I will switch to watching ESPN exclusively on mute if they hire that hoarse assed voice Doc for the announce team
Is this guy one of the “useless executives” Bill Simmons would talk about from his NBA on ESPN days?
This guy isn’t telling us something we don’t know. Obviously some higher up at ESPN made the decision and that person prefers Mark Jackson. What else could’ve happened?
That guy should be fired.
Also, was “for a psalm” an intentional choice because this article had to do with mark jackson, even though the phrase was referring to him?
Knowing Mark Jackson I guarantee it’s some religious guy that’s backing him
Guy behind the scenes must be a big evangelical
