The population of Portland is 647,505 (2023) compared to the population of Toronto which is est. 7 million (2023). Toronto has a bigger marketplace for Damian to become that spotlight player for not only Toronto but all of Canada.

For what ? He doesn’t want to play here. This isn’t the Kawhi situation where Kawhi needed to play because he was on one year deal and was playing for a new contract. Dame is on a multi year deal where he could possibly pull a Simmons and sit out until we move him. The man’s own agent is warning teams not to trade for him because they’re going to get an unhappy player. If any team not name Miami trade’s for him and he doesn’t actually play for them then can blame him when he’s telling them not to trade for him unless they’re the Miami Heat.
