I think strus is going to help the cavs tremendously. Now if we could just get og and grimes on the Knicks.

He needs to shoot more. Too many games last year he had 5 shots or less

I miss Reggie from downtown. Never held my breath when him or Burks shot the ball compared to RJ and Julius

I feel like Grimes is still underrated on this sub somehow. In just his second year:

    * True shooting of 62%, highest among rotation Knicks other than Mitch (who only dunks) and Hart (who was absolutely scorching in his 25 games, 52% from 3, not gonna continue). He was more efficient even than Brunson.
    * Was the best finisher at the rim other than Hart, shooting 74.5% from 0-3 feet. That’s better than Mitch, Randle, Toppin, Quickley…miles better than RJ’s 64%, but I see people hyping that up constantly for some reason.
    * Took on the hardest wing defensive matchups and graded out well; he’s got the rare combo of quickness, strength, and hands, and will only get smarter.

He’s already an elite shooter and defender; he does the stuff now that we all hope RJ will someday figure out.

The one knock people seem to have on him is that he’s “only” a low usage guy who doesn’t generate shots, but that’s just what he’s been asked to do because he’s playing with a bunch of iso-heavy players. Someone has to space out and spot up, and he’s the only guy that provides that skillset. I see no reason to think he can’t ramp up usage somewhat as needed, and honestly his usage doesn’t have to be that high to make a huge impact (a la Klay Thompson).

We should all be very excited about his future imo.

To be honest I’ve been a big proponent of trade the young guys and get some talent in the door. With the new CBA I just think having talent under contract is a better bet.

With that said, I’ve come around to the FO’s strategy of developing young talent and blowing the proverbial asset load when the right player comes along. The FO seems to really see something in IQ/Grimes/RJ and seem to want to monitor their development for at least another year before going All In.

This post confused me. I thought we traded for OG Anunoby for a second.

If you can consistently spot up, attack the closeout, AND play defense, you’re one of the most valuable players in the NBA. We’ve needed one of these guys forever.
