Trae Young disrespect has gone far and he has become underrated. It’s crazy how ppl are putting Tyrese, Brunson, Fox, and Jamal Murray over him.

Trae Young is a great nba player but not a good fit on team USA.

A lot of fans seem to have a hard time understanding that there’s more to basketball than scoring

  4. childishgames

Oh no! He allegedly got told to go over a screen once! Guess that cancels out his entire career

USA basketball is looking to win the gold not jack up 35 footers and go .500

This reminds me exactly of the Derrick White is better takes that summer years ago. Then, later in the season people were saying, “What?? Who said that??? No one ever thought that. ” All it took was one down season for those same people to come back. I guarantee this sub will magically get amnesia again. lol hawks fans just keep receipts. All this is lining up perfect for a nice eating crow moment again

Trae Young made me a convert in the post season this year. Having said that, I understand how he’s not taken seriously as a competitive basketball player internationally.

Dude is a walking fucking bucket tho. Fr

He’s arguably the worst defensive guard in the NBA. Not just bad, but the worst. And he is also ineffective off-ball, his go-to move is to stand around and hope they give it back to him so he can initiate pnr.

While he’s probably better offensively on-ball (teehee) than all the players on this team (especially in terms of playmaking), it’s not nearly enough to make up for his other deficiencies. Not to mention his history as a difficult teammate.

Luka and many other European players have said international competition is so much harder than NBA. Lackadaisical defense will not cut it out there

  10. might be cuz they really wanted as best defense as they could possibly get at the guard position for fiba rules, jrue was the second best player in the olympics so i guess it makes sense. maybe couple that with attitude, and that’s why trae wasn’t picked. although hali and brunson aren’t great on defense either but they seem more coachable from my untrained eye and move off ball a lot better

I feel like usa basketball coaches no more about basketball than me. So i’ll just go with their picks

Do people actually understand how basketball works? It’s not about recruiting random strangers and call it a day. The team building has to make sense, they need an identity. We’re not in an era where the USA have the far superior players on top of the league like Dream and Redeem team.

Trae is at the moment not on the level to completely built the USA team around. If he plays all the other players have to cater to him, as he can’t guard and can’t play off-ball. So on both sides of the court the coach has to adjust the rest to him.

What is easier? To get guys who you can plug and play. Players who are well rounded in their game so they don’t have to adjust the play of the team every time they go in. Players like Halliburton, Brunson, Ant, Hart and Reaves are Swiss Army knives. All can play off-ball and are much superior on D than Trae.

Plus his style of play is not favoured by FIBAs rules. The international play is much more physical which with his frame is kind of hard to go against. He won’t get a favourable whistle and if he doesn’t have the ball in his hands, he is just an offensive cone.

He is still an All-Star and borderline All-NBA player though. Respect to him and his game but I wouldn’t want him on the USA team if he didn’t change his approach on offense.

Coaches like pop and Kerr are friends with Lloyd pierce one of the worst hawks coaches of all time who hated his own players. That’s the main reason they keep bashing trae

Trae is a terrible defender and i. international games you can play lot more physical which put even Damian Lillard having a bad time so imagine trey.
