[Winfield] Shams reporting “it’s been made clear” that Pascal Siakam would not sign a contract extension with a team that trades for him. What’s the difference between that and reports that say Damian Lillard only wants to go to Miami?

One has preached and pontificated about being loyal and never running from the grind for years. Only to 180 and demand to be traded to one location **AFTER** signing a deal with his team that pays him $58m and $63m in his age 35 and age 36 seasons.

The other wants to stay in the city that drafted him, be loyal and have loyalty shown to him.

For the record, Im on the trade Siakam train. But if you cant see the gulf in difference between the two…. I dont know what to tell you.

This is not a serious question right?

Siakam is a pending free agent and Lillard is under contract through 2027

  4. Oozeinator

    I won’t fulfill my contract vs I won’t sign a new contract

  5. SpicyP43905

I’m so sick of these trade rumours.

  6. No-Language710

Lillard has a long term contract and no leverage.

Siakam is an expiring and has leverage.

Does this guy really sit st home wondering these things? And has a following of some kind?

As mediocre as the team looks I can’t wait for the season to start- boring basketball is easier on my brain than summer speculation.

The difference is Pascal is indicating what he’ll do as a free agent, whereas Dame is saying what he wants while still under contract.

I don’t really care that Dame is trying to get to Miami this way, as long as he never indicates he’s going to hold out if it’s not Miami (he has stated he won’t do that).

Pascal is simply saying he doesn’t plan to sign a new contract with other teams when he’s a FA and has absolutely no restrictions on where he can sign. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with him doing this, and anyone upset at him for it is being pretty stupid.

Wow, what dumb tweet. I don’t understand how some of these guys got the jobs they have. Those are not even close to the same situation. They both fuck over the team. But ones because he wants to stay and re-sign here (whether that is money or not, who knows. And anyone assuming are talking out of their ass).

While the other asked for a trade, tried to force their team to make specific trades and says they only want to go to one specific team.

Horrible take, which I really hope any non-braindead nba talking head can clearly see the difference.

One player is talking about where he is willing to play under his current contract. The other is talking about the potential for signing and new contract.

The two situations are night and bananas.

  10. Jesus_Hates_Memes

One is saying he won’t extend his obligation the other is saying he won’t perform to his obligation

  11. grapedinosour

This is a unfathomably stupid question lol. The differences are literally too many to list.

  12. CocoonMaN

Pascal is already employed by the team he is touting.

    Very big difference.

  13. Giga1396

One was reported by the agent, and one was “made clear”

  14. klobucharzard

this is from a reporter from NY daily news. to give you an idea – NY daily news published stories today about:

    – ppl changing their name to subway for free subs

    – jersey shore cast members going to a party

    – what a 90210 actor looks like with a shaved head

    – chromebook vs laptop jumble crossword

  15. Iliketothrowaway2456

    This is a joke, right?

Is Dame’s camp trying to restore some of his public image with idiotic tweets like this? 😂

  16. Devo198989

This is the dumbest post I’ve read today

  17. Ok_Respond7928

Pascal doesn’t want to sign an extension here ether. This is being not only miss represented but also being blown up in hopes of deflecting I feel.

Pascal wants to wait till next off season in hopes of making an all NBA team so he can make more money. Not even close to what Dame is doing/said. Pascal is not saying he won’t sign a new contract with the team who trades for him or that he wants to only play in Toronto or another team. He is saying he is not signing an extension and potentially losing on millions

  18. jeRskier

Siakam forcing his way to the team he’s already on

  19. awwwyeahaquaman

Pretty ridiculous comparison. Pascal is not even asking out, just indicating a free agency decision

  20. LemmingPractice

The pretty clear difference is that Pascal isn’t asking for a trade.

  21. damorec

It’s just a threat. He wants his super max. If he gets traded it won’t matter. Super max out the window.

  22. beefJeRKy-LB

Pascal isn’t saying he won’t play. In fact, being in the last year of his contract, refusing to play would cause big issues for him (same as Harden). Basically, teams are afraid to make a big trade for him because he may not sign an extension with them. But that doesn’t mean he’ll auto walk either because not all teams are gonna have huge cap space next year either.

  23. Inside-Inflation22

He isnt saying he wont play he is saying he wont stay.

  24. jamiecballer

I saw this ridiculous question on twitter and my first thought was nobody could be this dumb.
