Bit bizzare? Never heard of a stadium in the US have an attachment for housing.

Just leave the stadium in the complex and build even more affordable housing there

Never going to happen. This will get voted down and the Sixers will move to Camden.

If they do it right it could be an amazing addition to center city. Hope it works out

I’d kill to live there but fuck what this will do to Chinatown

So is this going to replace the mall or be built next to it?

Hopefully it works out. Keeping the Sixers in Philly will be great for the city.

That’s a weird way to sell a shit arena. I’ll take Gentrification for 200, Alex.

From an architectural perspective, feel like it’s kind of boring looking to be honest

“Let’s throw on an addition that makes it look like we give a shit, but that we’ll really just make more money off of in the long run…”

Are they actually taking out any housing in potentially building this though? Like sure there’s supposed to be 94 affordable units to go in but are they displacing anyone in the process of building this?

“home is where there is a multi-million dollar basketball game happening 40 feet away from you”

I’m cynical, but companies make promises to get approval and then often decide to change their mind when it is too late.

I will be very surprised if this got built that there would be anything avoidable. “Oh, well, we had to spend more money than we were expecting on (insert excuse that blames everyone but them,) so we just HAVE to cater to the wealthy because we’re job creators and risk is for normal people.”

  14. People will still find a reason to complain about this, which is honestly sad. Change and improvement are constants in life and if areas were never renovated and invigorated, then everywhere would eventually turn into a shit hole.

People will talk about the Chinatown residents getting displaced being horrible while sitting in their Center City or Park Slope fancy apartments not realizing that the same thing happened there at one point and that’s the sole reason these areas are nice now. It’s a sad, but necessary evil for the sake of progress.
