Top 25 Players in the NBA: Anthony Davis is the best DEFENSIVE player in the NBA | Hoops Tonight

Jason Timpf continues to rank his top 25 players in the NBA by revealing No. 6, the Los Angeles Lakers’ Anthony Davis. After starting the season 2-10, Anthony Davis carried the Lakers to the Western Conference Finals by anchoring the defense. While he isn’t the same level of offensive player as others in the top 10, his presence on defense is enough for him to be ranked 6th in the NBA.

  1. This list is stupid, lebron never shrinks in the post season, its always his teammates, tatum embiid all shrunk. Lebron is still top 2 after jokic

  2. Bro I swear y’all don’t realize he is this high because of his defense. He is the best defensive player on the planet, JJJ couldn’t even comprehend the level AD was defensively in the first round. Yes I agree that Jokic smoked his ass bc he was just on a different level but there is no need to discredit his defensive ability especially when Jokic is practically unguardable.

  3. AD is top 10 no doubt , but when you’re as offensively passive as he can be at times you can’t be a top 6 player . Bruce brown alluded to him saying that he pretty much let lebron down in that nuggets series . 22 and 14 with his defense is amazing and he’s a great player but he can’t be #6 ahead of bonafide #1 options who carry a scoring load on their back every night and don’t get to have 8 point playoff games like AD did .

  4. Embiid top 5 after those playoffs? Definitely looking forward to that breakdown

  5. It just seems like A.D. doesn't have the same resolve and motor that the competitive psychos at the top have. God help the league if he did.

  6. I have to disagree with Jason here and on what he said about AD vs Steph specially putting things into context vs a team that wasn’t there mentally also with the whole draymond fiasco we already know about now and basing it off this year’s playoffs not just Gsw the grizzlies were missing Steven Adams and like 2 other key players idk I feel it’s like a bit high specially when he’s offensively passive

  7. AD alone didnt stop Steph. It was the rest of the Warriors missing open shots that entire series. If you want to say the Lakers D stifled the Warriors, I would say the Lakers played really well on D. But it wasnt that D that had Klay shooting 32%, Poole shooting 29%, Wiggs shooting 34%, and the bench shooting 32% on OPEN looks. AD didnt do that.

AD is a great player. If hes a 6th overall, then he severely underperformed over his last 3 years. Great series against the Grizz and Warriors… Got destroyed in that Nuggets series against guys who are not great defenders guarding the 4/5 spots. I think hes a top 10 talent who gives you top 10 results in about half his game. Hes not the #1 option on his team so he can get away with being a part-time top 5 talent.

  8. I agree with the top guys he has in that tier, but disagree on the order. AD is more like 10-12 imo. Luka and Tatum should be higher
